Work In Progress ::

Lots of stuff

Captain Canada

Oh my that just looks so right....love, love, love the shape of this beast. I'd have to say that a scaled-up Churchill might just fir the bill ! As you say, the scale will look better, and it will have a decidedly British look to it !

Thanks chaps.

Now I know most of you will not believe me when I say that I was looking to do another squadron other than 74, but honest guv, it`s the truth.

The problem I had was looking at all the air defence squadron decals I had in the spares box and finding the they either did not fit, looked far too large or were far to modern. With reluctance I turned to my special Tiger stash and hey presto..., they fit.

74 it is then.......

Still need to apply some more stencils hence the glossy look, but not long to go before the matt coat is applied.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

NARSES2

Paintwork and transfers have really brought her to life, wonderful
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

So at the end of play today I`m a few bits and bobs short of finishing the airframe with the `booster` in place, aircraft armed and a pitot tube added to let the pilot know he`s going a godzillion miles an hour.......,

Work will start shortly on the frame that holds the aircraft to the launch rail.

Talking of which, I can`t keep calling it that `aircraft`, so I`ve come up with a name and designation and a mission profile.

Bare in mind this is the 559`s `older brother`, so in effect this is a whiff based on a whiff. (Confused yet?)

It will hence be known as the Vickers Supermarine Sceptre F.1.

This is a point defence `throw away` fighter. During times of tension and understanding that the Soviets could knock out most major airfields within minutes, the Septre squadrons would deploy in the field away from their home bases. Once launched, they would climb to 50,000 feet at Mach 2.5, intercept incoming Soviet bombers and once the missiles were depleted the pilot would, if fuel allowed, make his way back to friendly lines.

Once there, the cockpit section would separate from the main airframe, deploy a parachute and deliver the pilot back to earth. Probably a very `baked` earth, but earth nevertheless. Pretty much a one way mission, but lets face, back then most were.  It`s very much a German `Natter` mission profile, but again, most designs and ideas back in the 1950`s would have been influenced by German tech so it`s not too `out there`.

More soon.

That's amazingly good.

What's the booster rocket above the main exhaust built from please?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Steel Penguin

  it looks very historical, sci fi, british.
with a dark grey / space black scheme it would be an escort of fireball XL5 or some of the Dan Dare stuff.  or in red Trigan empire aircraft.
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

Kit, it`s a 1/35 scale booster section from an SA-2 kit.

Thanks, I'd have NEVER thought of that!  ;D

Thank god for that then. My main fears in this build are the scale issues and the fact I`m using Soviet designs with the booster and launch ramp.

That`s one out of three sorted then.
