Thanks chaps and and yep, great bit of CGI.

Spent the last few days up to neck in some serious PSR and I`m not even finished with that.

Now it`s not all putty and filler and there is some plasti card in there as well. You will also note that to save some time, energy and supplies, I`ve covered up the wing root protrusions and gap with `conformal` tanks. Always handy when in need to hide a multitude of sins.

The carrier vehicle is also in it`s first stages but I`m a bit concerned the scale is a bit off..??

More soon once the blisters have gone......   ;)

Just a quick update on how the front end it looking after all the PSR.

Starting to take shape now and as you can see, I`m moving onto the wings.

Know exactly what your talking about and I`ve been playing around with a few ideas in my mind. I`ll see how it goes.

I like the blunt nose. Gives it that period look, and not somat futuristic.

  :tornado:

I have to say the stubby nose fits in more with the era and the aircraft`s mission profile. Once painted black it may look a bit more decent?

Ok, so things are starting to get interesting now as I move forward and I`d like opinions please on the following.

Which chassis looks the move convincing?

Here is the Achilles 1/48 scale which matches the aircraft but not so much 1/35 launch rail which as many of you is from an SA-2 kit. (You also might have to use a bit of imagination as it`s not completed either...).

..... and now we have a 1/35 Patton tank chassis which matches the rail, but not so much aircraft kit.

Remember, this is going to be built as a kind of point defence `throw away` fighter launched from a ZELL carrier. An RAF 1950`s Bachem Ba 349 Natter if you will which was to counter the Warsaw pack hoard of bombers as they came into range.

During times of tension, these fighters were deployed away from airfields and....., well.., you get the rest.

I`m tempted to go for a 1/35 scale chassis but more a WWII type tank. Churchill base perhaps?

IMHO, go with a very low/flat chassis. How about a "Karl Mörser" basis? It's pretty huge, flat, and there's a 1:72 kit, AFAIK.
With the aircraft on top it will not move through any rougher terrain, anyway?

As much as I like that idea, the old war chest is down to it`s last shekels....

Need something a tad cheaper.

Centurion?

In the 1950s and 1960s, virtually everything the British did was mounted on a Centurion chassis.

Maybe a larger/ more modern 48th scale tank ?

The 35th one looks too big, but maybe it's just because the tank itself is so recognizable ? Or too American ?

Thanks for the opinions guys and it`s something I`m very much thinking about. One option is a 1/35 Churchill chassis.  :-\

The wheels would be smaller  and it looks `British` and you could just put it down a larger design?  :banghead:

Anyways....,

It`s been a very long 5 days of cutting plasti-card,  lots of PSR and then bundles of waiting for things to dry or set.

But it finally got to the stage where I could add some colour to my design today and in a lot of ways I think, bring it to life. Other than the cockpit, burner cans and weapons, the aircraft build and painting/spraying is pretty much complete.

Went for a standard 1950`s type camo scheme and in the final picture you can see the work I`ve done on the booster rocket and ZELL launcher assembly.

Gloss coat and decals next.
