You're welcome Zenrat

I think I've found a solution for widening the tracks:
put narrower fenders on that'll make the tracks look wider  ;D

As you can see I went with the sporty editions...

Comparison shot with the original fender:

Great idea ! Nobody will be the wiser ( except us, of course )

Quote from: zenrat on June 05, 2015, 05:36:00 PMHow long is it please?
It's about 10 cm long and with tracks I'd say about 5 cm wide.
Do your maths if you use inchemes and foots... ;D

Or this might help, too:

A souped up Kettenkräd in that scale will be a showstopper, hope your plans become reality

Hmmm, looks like a flamethrower version now...

Would be marching to the beat of his own drum, if he didn't detest marching to any drumbeat at all so much.

That was my attempt at making the tracked version of the Zippo Mobile

But the suspension couldn't cope...

zenrat

I was thinking about this in bed this morning.  Have you thought about having chrome tracks?

Fred

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That might be very cool, but I don't use alclad and every other paint that calls itself 'chrome' never ends up looking like it.
But it might be nice to experiment a bit with the tracks, we'll see. (btw: slightly disturbing you think of my build in bed, first thing in the morning   )

I've just finished work on the engine. About 20 kit parts and a couple of my own additions:

So cute!

Put in position it'll look something like this:

(edit: pics look a bit crap, my apologeezzz)

PR19_Kit

Nothing wrong with the pics at all, they're great. LOVE the 'Twin Stack' exhausts, I can almost hear that flat twin chugging along, as they do.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

It now makes 99 php* so if it's chugging along it's probably just staging up for the next streetrace  :drink:

Talking about tiny bits: here comes the job I hate. Really really hate... I'd rather be putting eyeball decals on 1/72 pilots.

And I hate decalling.

Three attachment points to be cleaned on each link, and since the plastic is hard, and the links quite thin, I've already lost two. I'll probably need about 80 per side, not quite sure because it's lowered so I'll be needing less than the instructions dictate.

The roadwheels are done and look like this:

I'll need to touch-up on the red on some wheels, but it'll be a nice distraction from thos pesky links.  ;)

Captain Canada

Ouch those links do look like a right pain !

Just in case I c*ck things up later (highly probable ), here's two pics of the left side track in place.

I do think the smaller-fender-trick worked  <_<

I really do admire people who put these individual track links together. Just looking at the parts in the magazines put's me off armour modelling and there are a few projects I might fancy
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That makes two of us  ;D
The tracks are done, 83 links per side, and I've promised myself never again. Unless maybe if it's something with bigger links, less cleaning etc.
My fingers hurt, my eyes hurt, my tweezers are worn down and my hobby knife is still crying from exhaustion, somewhere on the desk.
The only thing that kept me going was looking up the price of a set of Friul metal links...

But they do look good

loupgarou

Putting together all those links sure sounds like a pesky job!
But the tracks looks very nice now.
The engine is beautiful, does it come from an 1/24 VW?
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.
