Thanks for the kind words!
Making some progress on another offering, a Fairey Courier. I read that in the late 1950's Fairey were offering parts of Gannets for sale to people who wanted to build transports, and had several in-house projects under the "Courier" name. This will be one possibility.

What a glistening gratuitous grandiose gnarly gutbucket of a Gannet.

Love that idea.  ;D

Can't wait to see what you're going to use as a canopy for the pax seats. Defunct Battle glasshouses maybe?  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Just what I was going to say. ;D
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks again.
I was tempted to leave it open-topped as an aerial charabanc for tropical climes, but heat-moulded a piece of transparent packaging over a Heron fuselage then trimmed with scissors. I was surprised to find that a scrap Airfix Beaufighter canopy matched for width, and is thick enough for some reshaping. The stock of Milliput is reducing again.

PR19_Kit

The mind BOGGLES at the idea of an 'aerial charabanc'!  :o

Would the pax have to wear straps to retain their 'Kiss me Quick' hats on the return trip?  ;D

Of course, they would need to strap their hats on, if nothing else - sunburned heads are sore! However, lap straps would restrict (a) access to the crate of Newcastle Brown in the back and (b) kissing, quick or slow  ;)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

KiwiZac

Oooh yes, I like this idea. It always seemed bizarre to me that the Gannet held so few people.

in order to maximize payloads, maybe it could be installed as a double-decker bus (britishwise) ?
with the upper deck aerial, like tourist buses, to keep in the "char à banc" inspiration ;-)

There at last!
The Fairey Courier offered twin-engine safety and a large carrying capacity. Northway Aviation found the amphibian version a great asset for remote areas able to carry hunting parties, canoes or heavy equipment.

The model was going to finish quite heavy, so a robust float attachment was needed - sprue covered in wrap-round plaftic card did the job.

The spares box was raided for Airfix Ju 52 floats, Hurricane IIb main undercarriage and Canso wheels. Decals were modified from a Matchbox Norseman. Struts from Contrail. A surprising amount of lead foil was required to cure tail-sitting.

Mossie

That's even better than I was expecting Glenn, love the addition of the floats.  I'd hardly guess it was a Gannet if I didn't know already.  Love it!

Ermagerd ! Instant classic alert ! That is insane ! Like Mossie said, who knew it was going to turn out this good ? That is just excellent. Great work, and believable as well.
