That is an absolute "B", but as Zen says at least you knew it wasn't lying on the floor somewhere and wasted time.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thank you, Kit!  After a careful look on the Falcon Models site, seems like the Banshee might make it after all, they have a set of 2 canopies for the Airfix kit so, looks like i'll be spending money... Might as well order a set for the other kit i have without a canopy, the Airfix 1/72 FW 190. :banghead:

Great stuff.

Falcon do a real quality product, and to my mind they are THE people when it comes to vacform canopies, and they are always well documented in with the moulds themselves.  IIRC they do the Squadron singleton canopies as well.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Bugger!.  I bet you said something like "gosh I am really rather annoyed with myself".

Silver lining is that you immediately knew for sure it had gone and didn't spend fruitless time searching for it.

Fred, yes, something along those lines...  ;D ;D might have used a bit more, let's say, obscene wording, but that's what i meant...
I was getting really amped up to build this kit, now i'll have to wait for  a set of Falcon canopies for this, but i'm lucky those are still around, would've been a waste to leave this thing unfinished. Just because of a stupid mistake, i'll have buy a canopy that will cost as much as the kit itself cost me.
But anyway, this set back got me looking through the stash and guess what, another old Airfix kit came out...

Now, at first i thought: "I should build this instead of the Banshee, the timeline would be a bit later but it fits the scenario too..."
But then i remembered that i'd bought this kit with an idea of using the main fuselage and turn it into something else completely different... It's still in study but all i can say is that it will not be a Skyray...
Sorry about the size of the pic, don't know why, Imgur seems to be a bit wacky today, can't upload pics following the normal method with auto resizing and, even after edited, this pic will not show smaller. Just click on it and you'll be able to see it in a decent size...

EDIT: Pic restored

They have quite a range of stuff, i didn't have time to go through the 1/48 stuff but just the 1/72 list on it's own is excellent. I'm thinking of other kits like the Monogram Tigercat that could do with a better canopy.

It's not showing at all the moment, no matter what you do to it.  :banghead:

Imgur is experiencing problems, they've had some sort of upgrade or maintenance issue but are aware and working on it. No pic upload for me till it's all solved...

After this talk of Falcon I had a rummage yesterday and discover I have a couple of their WWII sets. Completely forgot about those  :banghead:

Well, i wanted to buy some of their canopies from the Squadron site but 50$ to send a single canopy from the US to Portugal made me laugh...
But i was lucky enough to find them on ebay for 50$ less.

So, regarding models, haven't done anything else since i lost the Banshee's canopy but this is what i have on my mind right now...

It will see some saw action and it's obvious it will also involve quite a bit of PSR... Still, i'm not 100% sure of the final layout yet, maybe some of the parts shown in the pic will be left out... But like i said before, it won't be a Skyray.

A very strong beverage... know as Ice tea, mango flavor... ;D  I normally drink a Portuguese liquor called Licor Beirão but the bottle was finished last weekend...

If I may. Not to hijack but to compliment/complement your thought process.

Here is my Airfix F4D with wings from a Monogram F-4D Phantom. Wing chord is the same as the F4D wings.

Maybe it's the black plastic Gimper, but that makes me think BATPLANE!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

:o That's an excellent idea!! The F4D's wings were what i've always wanted to modify, the round tips look good but i thought it would also look cool with different wings and your idea proves that perfectly!

I didn't think of that but now that you mention it, that would be a sick build! All black, maybe just the bat symbol on the tail.

I admit, i wouldn't build it cause i'm not that much of a cartoon fan although i like it, but that would a be a different approach to the subject, and i bet it would look great.

My idea is different from Gimper's cause i wanna make mine a 4 poster tail design. A bit like i did to the YF-23 and the Mig-37 Ferret kits.
I have the afternoon off work so i'm gonna try to figure out the final layout for this one and, that includes deciding the year in which it would have been designed. The F4D was deigned and built in the 1950's but i'm thinking of this thing more like 70's or later... i guess i'll have to draw it on paper first, i find it easier to work on the lines like that. When i'm satisfied with the lines, i'll try to find the right time frame for it.
Ok, so i've just finished lunch and i've got the rest of the afternoon to play with plastic...
