Funny y'all mention purple. I've been thinking on and off recently how to use it in a paint scheme some how and not have it look like utter garbage. Easier perhaps on the civil side, but militarily speaking purple could be even less used than pink! I can picture it on WWI stuff easily but anything past that draws somewhat of a blank.

Probably only in civil aircraft but i can imagine a modern commemorative scheme on a fighter having purple mixed into it.

Someone around here ought to do something about that!  ;D

Just look at WWI German lozenge schemes and then use that on a modern aircraft or build an Imperial Roman "Air Force One"  ;D

Exactly what i was thinking of when thinking of commemorative schemes on modern jets, imagine one of those WWI schemes on a Phantom or a Tornado... or even on the F-16...

Well, managed to get some work done, glued on a few more bits and it now looks like a Phantom...

Will try to get it ready for paint before Xmas...

Check this out, I just saw this yesterday... (Kit, avert your eyes) ... it's the new Alaska aggressor:

Well, I say it's new... it could be years old... who knows. Seems new to me.

I actually saw one like that at the 2018 Cold Lake Airshow back in July, here's a pic I took of it with the another grey/blue one

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

TheChronicOne

Nice grabs!! Hard to choose a favorite. I hate to say it, but many of the layouts and colors of our aggressors are better than some of that used on the things they're meant to simulate.

Guess i'm almost a month late but, happy 2019 everyone!!
I've been away from the forum and the bench for a while now but it's for a good reason, been busy cause i'm buying a house with Milady so, not much time left for modelling in the past month.

Beautiful birds! Thanks for the pics!

Me and Milady went on holidays to the north of Portugal and there we visited the Bazar Paris, which is probably the oldest toy store in Portugal, open for busines for more than a century... Obviously, i was only going there to look around but once again, a box full of plastic dropped from the shelf, falling in my hands and forced me to pay for it... ;D
Spent a day there and then we flew to Malta... there we visited the Aviation museum, where, besides taking a bunch of photos, i made the mistake of getting too close to the cabinets where they had models for sale so, i was forced to ask the good lady who works there to open one of them and release the Airfix 1/72 Red Arrows Hawk so i could take it under my protection... ;D

Quite a cool trip, bunch of good people, great sights and food in Malta, had a lot of fun.

Now, i've been away from the bench cause me and Milady are buying a house... Quite a pain in the behind to deal with banks but it has to be done in order to achieve our dream of having our own home in Portugal.
But still, if all goes according to plan, in a couple of months, i'll be setting up my new mancave in my new home!

What a nice looking couple! Who are they? :o           ;) :P

I really liked Malta, too. Was there for a week across September/October, on Gozo mostly. Photo's I've seen of the islands recently look really colourful, was a bit brown & dry when I was there.

Good luck with the banks & the house-hunting!

Terrible those model kits aren't they? You just can't trust them, they seem to have a mind of their own and just LEAP out at you.  ;D

Interesting that Portuguese models and Maltese models are just the same as UK ones. I wonder if that will all change after Brexit?  Ooops, sorry, I wrote the 'B' word.  :banghead:

Nice pic there of you and Milady with the Spitfire in the background, which one is it?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I have no idea who they are but they sure look good...  ;D
We stayed in Sliema and visited Manoel Island, Valleta and Mdina, which is close to the aviation museum. Milady has turned me into a Game of Thrones fan so, we couldn't miss the chance to visit the spots where they shot some of the most important scenes of the first season.
We want to go back there and visit Gozo cause i'd love to see the Megalithic monuments there. There's a lot of historic stuff on those islands and we didn't have time to go to all the places we wanted to visit, so much cool stuff to see.

Sure is... i admit i was almost losing hope of being able to start my own family and have a house of my own but then i met this girl... We've been looking around for a while now and finally after visiting 5 houses, we found the one.
We've found the perfect house for us, my dog and all 4 of Milady's cats and we quickly put in 2500€ to reserve it while we're choosing the best bank to ask for a loan.
This morning we've been to 4 different banks and by the end of the afternoon, we had all the info we needed from the loan simulations done on all 4 to know which one was the best deal.
Tomorrow we're going to the chosen bank and start the loan process. By what we've been told on all banks, we won't have any problems getting the loan so, i'm hoping that it will all run smoothly, and in a couple of months or so, we'll be moving into our new home.
Anyway, i don't want to jinx it by saying that it's ours before we get the actual yes from the bank so, let's wait and see how it goes.

Damn those model kits, they're alive and they are mean!!  ;D ;D
Guess it shouldn't make a difference, the mark left by Brits on Malta and Portugal is strong enough for us to keep wanting the same stuff so, if the Brexit changes anything, i foresee a popular uprising demanding a return to equality...  ;D
It's a Mk.IX, not sure on the model but maybe a C? It's such a beautiful plane. Here's the link to the museum's pics.
