A medical check-up for a mortgage loan?

Woh! :o

Showing my age, but when I took my first mortgage out back in 1974 I had to have a medical and I worked for the Assurance company that was giving the mortgage. Mind you the mortgage was based on an endowment policy so that might have had something to do with it. The other side of the times was that whilst the house was in joint names only the male partner had to have the medical. A different age

Just glad it's all going through ok for you

When my late BAe friend Robin Hill and his wife bought a new house in the early 80s, she was earning more than him, so SHE was applying for the mortgage but Rob had to have a medical!  :o

Sexist or what?

Glad you like the Portuguese lead sled!
I understand, so many unflattering nicknames for such a beautiful beast... Flying footlocker is so wrong... and i think that a lot of people like it cause there was a post on FB just a few days ago where the guy was asking about everyone else's favorite aircraft, and i counted more phantoms than anything else so, it is a popular plane.

Thank you! This house is a dream coming true for me, i'd almost lost all hope of ever being able to live in a decent house, let alone buy my own house.
And you can be sure that if you ever need a place to stay over here, you only have to say when.

Thank you, Chris! All the good vibes you guys give me are a great moral boost, keeps me with a positive attitude and that helps everything else!
I guess that for us it's just a formality but i understand why they wanna know if we have any serious medical issues, the life insurance i got is for the total debt, in case one of us dies, the bank will have to pay the total remaining debt.
Now i can start planning for what all the rooms will be, what i have to change that i don't like and that sort of thing...

Ok, update is due here... last Sunday i was working as the host/DJ/stage manager/sound engineer at the anual event we hold in the wine estate. Yes, i was assigned those tasks cause i'm the only one working there who can do it and my boss doesn't want to spend money on an outside company to do the job.
So, that meant i had to set everything up on the stage and terrace where the main entertainment events where to be held. The weather was bad, lots of rain and strong winds so i had no choice but to carry the PA system as fast as i could so the stuff wouldn't get soaked. The speakers where being kept in a storage room in another building and to get there, one has to walk up a set of stairs that also have a wooden ramp for wheelchairs.
These stairs are outside of the building just in front of the storage room's door and on the last trip, i was carrying one of these on my shoulder...

I guess that mixing rain and wooden ramps should give a clue of what happened when i was carrying the last speaker in a rush cause the rain was coming down harder at the moment... i slipped and fell flat on my back but that wasn't the problem, serving as a cushion for the speaker was...
It landed right on my ribs and chest on the right side so hard that it blew all the air out of my lungs. Obviously, acute pain was the result, it was hard to breathe for a few minutes but as i was warm from running around during the previous hour, it didn't bother me that much and i decided i could take the pain and that it probably was nothing too serious besides a bruised chest and back.
Held on for a couple of hours but by mid afternoon i was really hurting so, as soon as the event ended, i was out of there. Still came home, but had to take a painkiller cause it was bad by dinner time.
Monday morning i woke up with a lot of pain so i went to the hospital and got checked out. Two cracks on one and another crack on the other rib was the result so, i've been at home since then.
I had broken ribs before because of a BMX crash but these are hurting much more so i guess that's my age starting to show that i can't keep breaking bones like a kid. :banghead:

So, once again, i'm at my parents' house waiting for my house's document to arrive and, down with an injury done at work, exactly the same situation i was in when i decided to get back into modelling back in 2013...

So, what have i been doing at home? Sleeping a lot as the meds cause sleepiness but i also decided to join the Old Mold GB being held on the Portuguese forum with the Monogram 1/48 Spitfire IX. Will be real world, just like the P-40B i built for the same forum's Sharkmouth GB a few years ago.
Chose that cause the it's a 1962 mold and cause i want to have a real worl example on my collection.
Only managed to paint the pilot so far cause i keep getting distracted and end up burning most of the time watching BoB documentaries and movie clips.

So, i've got time for modelling but i have to take painkillers for that cause it hurts just to breathe... :banghead:

Damn, that blows! Mend up....     we're not young as we used to be, but still dumb and motivated enough to try.

Broken ribs can be quite painful and you have to be careful that they mend properly. Broke mine twice as a youngster, first time in the school playground, second time on the football field. First time they taped me up nice and tight, second time they didn't bother as they'd realised tapping didn't do any real good.

Mind you this was in the 60's so things have probably moved on  ;)

Look after yourself

Thanks, brothas.
Yeah, when we're kids, we don't think about what can happen but this time it was something i had to do, no matter what. I just didn't expect that to happen cause i'd already gone through that ramp with one speaker and didn't feel like it was so slippery. Guess you always have to expect the unexpected.

Chris, i see you've also been an accident prone youngster...  ;D on both occasions i've never been taped up cause they always said it wouldn't do anything. Guess there's really nothing to do about it. I'll just have to be careful and rest up till it's good but let's see how easy that will be...

Get well soon, mate!

The big surprise is how much your physical recovery slows between the ages of 25 and 35.

And how easy it is to re-injure doing the slightest little bit of nothing. Then it's like starting all over again. -Of course, you'll be wanting to avoid this so you're just going to have to plant yourself at the bench I suppose, not much other choice now!  ;D

From my experience, how we work on our recovery always plays a big part, proper nourishment will get you a long way but the work has to be done.
Check ou this guy for an example.

But yeah, it's only natural that our bodies begin to lose the capacity to recover from injuries as time goes by.
Still, can't say it's been hard to heal up cause after i broke my wrist and got 3 surgeries on it when i was 33/34, i managed to get it back up to what could say is 95% of what it was before the accident. The doc was saying that it was going to hurt till i die and kept me going through physical therapy for 4/5 months while i was sure it wasn't working and i told him it was because of the titanium T plate and screws jacking up the ligaments in the wrist. I had to slam my good hand on his table and demand that they removed the plate(insurance company doctor  )and told him that in 2 months i'd be fully recovered and ready to work, he went on about how only 1 in 5 patients needed to remove the plates and screws, so i had to scream at him and threaten him with a lawsuit for negligence and causing me health problems that would affect me the rest of my life. He agreed to do it then... funny thing, first appointment after they removed it, he apologized and told me i was right, i had infection spreading from my wrist up to my elbow.  2 months after that, i was ready to work and even ride my BMX full out!
Doctors may be experts but i've broken a lot of bones during my life and no doctor knows my body better than me, they don't feel the pain, i do.

Yup, just last night, i was sleeping on my left shoulder but must have moved suddenly while sleeping and woke up in excruciating pain and barely able to breathe... mind you, i hate taking meds and pills, most are synthetic chemicals and i like my drugs green and natural so, i haven't taken any painkillers in the last days, i've had enough of that crap during the 5 surgeries i've had so far, don't need more crap in my system, i'd rather take the pain, it will only be a for a few weeks anyway.
Regarding the bench, no such thing for me here at my parents house cause everything's packed up, disassembled and in boxes and bags just waiting for the document to come through so i can sign the papers and move into my house.
I'll have to make do with the cutting mat on a small lamp desk... :banghead:

Cracked ribs.  Been there, done that. Motorcycle crash at 20.
You have my sympathy.
Take it easy and get plenty of sleep if you can.

Tell me about it  :-\  Even things like small cuts take ages for the scab to heal up properly.

Two wheels always provide good fun and painful experiences... Thanks, Fred!
I've been trying but even sleeping can be painful so i try to spend as much time awake as i can so i can control my movements. It sucks to wake up in pain and not knowing what position's best to avoid pain.
Anyway, i'm going to see the doc tomorrow for a weekly checkup of the situation. Let's see what the doc says.

The only way I could sleep was on my back.  And then I snored like billy-oh.  My housemates were not happy.
