It was a what if but all I did was change the paint job. 

It was actually closer to 8 months ago. Wow. Time flies... still, I don't remember anything about the build at all, and I should!

Oh man... i should remember that too... Love the colors you chose for it.
Color scheme... something i haven't even thought about... I'll wait till the building's finished. I also haven't been able to do any modelling this past week cause i've been way too tired... lot's of stuff to do at work and when i get home other than that but maybe i have time for that later today, after lunch.
Still have to mask the Cobra's canopy and glue some smaller bits on so, should be able to finish that today.

Ok, monthly report is due... Been working on the real world Spitfire IX but the decals were simply too old to work so, that build will be stalled waiting for a set of decals... and that may cause it to become a whif.
This is how it looks at the moment, minus the roundel...




The AH-1WX(4B/FT) is ready for paint, i just have to finish masking the canopy and get on with it. Still have to choose a scheme, though...



Besides these, there's the 2nd version of my F-16W still waiting for further progress.

Well, i have to say that my modelling mojo has not been the best in the past week... After putting the Spitfire aside for lack of proper decals for it, i was glad that i resisted the urge to throw it out the window. It's not looking too bad, specially after i've managed to drop the model to the floor when i was finishing the camo which, luckily, only separated a couple of seams and i was able to glue them back without damaging the paint. Then the decal issue... It'll be waiting for a new set for the next couple of months as my modelling budget is very tight at the moment.
So, after i put the Spit aside, i got working the Cobra and when i was finishing priming it, i dropped it too...
Result was a separated tail rotor and a couple of antennas also snapped off... So there i went back to glue, PSR and i finally got it back together...



I hate it when stuff like this happens, having to redo what took so long to do in the first place and was looking good... Guess that should teach me to keep a model over the bench instead of having a meter of space between it and the closest surface.
Anyway, i've also been too tired to concentrate on models after work as i've been spending my days climbing up trees again...



These babies have been really helpful...

Anyway, back at the bench today to see if i can finally finish putting all the bits that snapped off the Cobra due to the fall. Let's see if i can get something else done today...

So, i did get something done without dropping or breaking a single part!
Painted almost everything left to paint and the only things left are the sidewinders and a few details on the airframe. I'm keeping the color scheme simple, boring grey all over. I'll be using the kit's decals as this will be one of the AH-1W airframes used for the AH-1Z prototypes.
Will have to dig through the spares bag for some decals for the weapons but that shouldn't be a problem.
This means that, aside from the winders and minor details left to paint, this has progressed quite a bit today.



I won't be doing any work on the F-16W before i finish this one cause i barely have the time or will to sit at the bench and do anything so, i'll just take it easy and concentrate on one at a time.

Winders!! There we go; the corruption complete.    Now on to calling yellow "yeller" although even I don't do that. 


Trees...... man.  That's cool. Me... I'm terrified of heights. It's a legit phobia and I go into a panic attack if I am too far off the ground. Funny as just yesterday I was carrying on a conversation about just this stuff. I said, "I know there are these crazy people that climb up in trees to cut or trim them." So there you have it.... you're nuts!

Trees...... man.  That's cool. Me... I'm terrified of heights. It's a legit phobia and I go into a panic attack if I am too far off the ground. Funny as just yesterday I was carrying on a conversation about just this stuff. I said, "I know there are these crazy people that climb up in trees to cut or trim them." So there you have it.... you're nuts! 

I'll just call'em "Go get'em sticks" from now on...
I like climbing up trees... and to eat bananas... i've always been a bit of a monkey... i even have the body hair to go with it!!!

Climbing up trees with a chain saw is a whole 'nother kettle of fish.

I loved climbing trees as a kid.  You couldn't keep me out of them.  I struggle to lift my own body weight off the ground now.

As for dropping things, whenever I drop two things in succession I automatically drop a third unimportant thing to break the spell. I wouldn't recommend it whilst up a tree with a chainsaw though

We called this dude "Tree Trimming Ed."  He would tie a chainsaw to his belt (then nothing else, forget about harnesses or safety equipment of any kind) then go right up the tree like a spider monkey and get to work. I can't even go higher than the three step of a step ladder w/out a meltdown.

I was into climbing trees when i was a kid, too. Guess it's our primal instinct showing through... if we really came from apes, that is...
You're right about the chainsaw, still, it's not the climbing part that's worse, it's really only when you're cutting that it can make the whole affair dangerous. But it can be dangerous even when used on the ground so i think it's just a matter of knowing what you're doing and ALWAYS being careful when using such tools. Things can go wrong very easily.

Well, i've never heard of that spell but it would't be wise to do it with a chainsaw, that's for sure. I wanted to  so hard when it happened with the Spitfire and was so impressed that it did not break a single part... Then with the cobra, i saw the damage right away when the whole tail shot across the room from the impact...
Lesson learned, though. No more holding models over 10cm above the bench or another flat surface.

That's the type of guy i call a madman... no such risk for me, especially at work. I'm crazy but not stupid. I like what i do for a living but i still have a brain in my skull and too much to live for.
Do you know what happened to that guy? Wouldn't surprise me if he'd died from falling off a tree... 
I use gloves so i don't lose grip from sweaty hands, climbing spikes on my feet, a full harness and two safety ropes. One rope is around 2 meters long for freedom of movement when i'm transitioning from branch to branch and another one around a meter long to hook onto the main safety line that i'd previously tied around the trunk with carabiners for when i need to have both hands free for the chainsaw. And i always check the ropes and knots around carabiners before i start climbing.
The climbing spikes are an extra help to clear sections of trunk that don't have enough strong branches to hold on to and to put my feet on.

So, modelling related news, the kits i've ordered last week were delivered today and i've already ordered a prop/spinner set from CMK for the Tucano. It's worth it, IMO... but now i'm also thinking about the exhausts as the ones in the kit are really just chunks of styrene... i will try to drill them first, after all, i did manage to drill 12 holes in the 1/48 Monogram Spitfire Mk. IX's exhausts and they look ok so, i think i'll be able to make the Tucano's exhausts look good enough.
While on ebay, i also ordered 3 10ml Tamiya XF-86 Flat clear jars as i don't want to use the spay can again and risk ruining another paint job with it. My LHS is almost devoid of modelling products nowadays and don't seem to be getting any more... the closest hobby store is over 200 km away from me so, i'll have to start buying this type of product online too.
Also, i'll try to get the rest of the detail painting done on the AH-1 tonight so i can clear coat it tomorrow and move on to decals.
