I always figured it was just a matter of time before he come flying out the tree. lol    I'll ask around. I actually know someone that would probably know even though it's been about 15 years since the "time of Ed."  Seems to me he was always drinking and stuff, too.  ;D

Tamiya XF86 flat clear in jars has a habit of separating.  You'll need to give it a good stir & shake before using it each time.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Fortunately I've been using it for a long time now and I know how it works. I always shake paint and varnish jars before pouring into the airbrush anyway. Still, i thank you for the tip anyway, mate.
I ran out of it a few months ago and my lhs hasn't been ordering the stuff lately so i had to buy some online.

Better, IMO, to tell you something you already knew than say nothing until it's too late.

Sure thing, Fred, i appreciate the attitude, it's how we should all be to each other.

I hope he's still around... Although i say he's mad, in no way do i wish him any harm. He probably has quite a few entertaining stories to tell regarding his stunts on trees.

Well, i haven't painted any details at all yesterday as there was not much will to paint with the terrible headache i had but i'm sitting at the bench with my hairy sticks and paints in front of me so let's see if i can get stuff done tonight.

So, the Cobra is grey and boring but i like it... ;D

I'm going to cover it up with some more gloss varnish, dirty it up a bit and wait for the delivery of the XF-86 matte varnish to finish it.

Other than this, i haven't been doing much modelling at all, cause i've been so tired lately... i've been spending most of my time chopping up pine trees as i was tasked with eliminating all the pine trees in the Wine estate where i work because there have been too many clients complaining about the pine processionary caterpillars and that has been taking a toll on the sales of the new apartments that are being built there.
My boss wants them gone from the areas surrounding the villas and apartments so, i have a lot to do in the weeks to come.
I'm lucky that my salary and job are not in danger... at least for now, that is... Can't say the same about most of my colleagues in the administrative and client attendance section of the firm.
Because of the Corona virus situation we've lost most of the bookings for the next 3 months and my boss already had to take measures and reduce the working hours to 50% along with the same amount cut in salaries, besides having to fire a number of workers.
This situation is making quite an impact in Portugal but i fear that this is just the beginning as this week the number of confirmed cases has more than doubled in 2 days... Still, i don't think that this will be the end of the human race! :banghead:
If only people could act more responsibly and do things the proper way... Panic will not help! We also have the toilet paper freaks who don't know how to wash their behinds, people buying/stealing alcohol everywhere they can and the ones who are buying up piles of everything acting like this is WWIII... i believe that we have to be careful and responsible to avoid spreading the virus and making it worse and it won't be easier to do so if people keep going to the shopping centres by the hundreds. :banghead:
I'm just hoping that everyone can come to their senses and take the necessary precautions to prevent this from becoming a more serious matter but we shall see... :-\

Glad you like it, mate!
I've already sprayed a good coat of gloss varnish on it and i'n now working on the weapons, painting details on the rocket pods and decals for the hellfire missiles.
Should be able to finish it tomorrow, except for the final matte coat, although i do have a can of a different matte varnish, which i've already tested on my old builds that were relegated for test bird duties and it seems to be more reliable, although i'm still not too confident about it... I think it's better to wait for the 3 jars of Tamiya XF-86 that will probably be delivered next week and just airbrush that on like i've always done on almost every model i've built in the past 4 or 5 years. If i do risk using this spray can on the cobra and by some unexpected reason, end up ruining the paint, i'll just use that as an excuse to buy the Dream Model AH-1Z and do the same tail surgery on that kit.
That was indeed my initial idea, having a Fenestron tail rotor on the AH-1Z Viper  but there was no kit of that chopper and i thought it just too hard for me to convert the W into a Z variant so i went with the idea of having it done on the W as a prototype for the Z.
Back to current Cobra, the gloss varnish is dry and i will be using some weathering products on it to give it a bit of a dirtier look.

Well, the Covid-19 situation in Portugal is getting worse and with the recent declaration of an emergency state, my boss had to implement more severe lay-off measures and that meant all employees taking their vacation days now so, i'll be home for a few days.
Means i'll have time for some modelling... i'll get the Cobra finished and move on with the 2nd version of the F-16W. I may also start a new build so i'll have a look in the stash and see if i can come up with any ideas for the In the Navy GB.
Re the Cobra, it's dirty and just needs weapons and a matte coat to finish so it shouldn't take too long.

I think it looks good like that. I've softened my stance on grey lately.  ;D   I've been itching to do a Phantom in the modern USAF grey like they had before they started retiring them......        I REALLY like grey on stuff that it doesn't belong on (typically).

Going to paint them 'winders ;D and work on the weapons load now.
The F-4S looked so good in the Ferris scheme... May end up doing one like that as an air superiority fighter for the PoAF to join the camo'ed one i already have.

I ain't never seen that!!   "Ferris' Cooler Paint Job."  Had to look it up and saw some pretty fantastic looking schemes.

I found one the "modern" schemes I was thinking of. I like it because it's so "fish out of water."

One of these days I'm going to paint up a B-17 to look like how our B-1s are painted to go with my Modern Mustang.  ;D

Ah, that's kinda like the F-16's scheme, looks cool too! Re the B-17, that would certainly look great! Old fortress looking like a B-1/B-52...
