The heat here is too much. My spray booth is in a not conditioned part of the house, so I am stalled with current projects and had to start a new one.
Having found in a flea market some original photos, I started a diorama of the Babylonian Rapid Transit, in Hammurabì's times.
As is well known, the tracks went through the Ishtar Gate before arriving at the Babel Tower Station.
While passenger trains were already steam powered, freight trains were still elephant-driven, owing to the limited production capacity of the Royal Nineveh Works.

I am sure I have somewhere  some Airfix assyrian or somesuch, 40 years old, but haven't been able to locate them yet, in order to people the diorama. Hope to post progress soon.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Yes, I have to complete it, the tracks will have to be buried in the pavement, like in urban streetcar lines.
Actually, more than a whif, it's a silly season build!  ;D
It's too warm here to do anything, I am dripping all over the place.

My grandfather used to send me out with a bucket and shovel when the Rag & Bone man came (something to do with rhubarb). I'd have needed a flipping big bucket for that freight system  ;D

We may have isolated the reason why the Hanging Gardens of Babylon flourished so well

The first freight car is prepared for just this purpose . As can be seen, is very near the elephant's tail.  ;D

I haven't yet been able to find a kit of a ziggurat in an appropriate scale.  :-\

Now I've seen horses with nappies (diapers to our US cousins) in various cities throughout the world in an often vain attempt to keep the roadway clean and somewhere in the back of my brain I THINK I saw a least one Elephant in a nappy whilst in India. It may have just been a dream after a particularly interesting curry however  ;D

And I have seen in boulevard Saint Germain, Paris an entire troop of Garde Republicaine on horseback (without nappies) followed by a series of specialized road-washing trucks. Very technical.  ;D

Yup. My office window used to overlook the Mall in London and every morning at 9-45 the Household Cavalry would ride up the Mall from the Palace to Horseguard's Parade (led by two mounted police) and the column would be followed by a small, green roadsweeping truck weaving down the Mall picking up all the left overs  ;D

Queen's roses must be magnificent
