Since my late friend Rob died, his wife Penny has been 'finding' some of the stuff that he'd got stashed away all over their huge house, and as she's moving south a number of these items have ended up with me.

The latest two are a couple of desk-top models of the BAe UAV project entitled 'FLAVIIR', and the aircraft themselves are called Demons. I have no idea what scale they are as I can't find any dimensional info on either of the two versions, but I guess they're 1/48 or so after looking at the few pics of them that are available. I much prefer the look of the one with the tiny winglets but it looks like BAe went with the other one, with one large single fin.

See here for further info on the project :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAE_Systems_Demon

The two models seem to be made from a very dense, hard resin, and look to be pretty robust. I'm thinking of fitting landing gear to at least one of them and giving it RAF markings.  ;D

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Ahah, thanks for that, my search didn't come up with those links.

2.5 m span? That's only 8 feet! It already IS a model!  :o

I guess my 'modification' will be a Scale-o-rama for sure.

[Later] That second link is very interesting but oddly it doesn't mention the winglet fitted version at all. I still can't find a pic of that version anywhere, but it looks great anyway.  ;D

one im very familiar with indeed, Cranfield Eclipse UAV. (later Demon)

as originally designed it had no vertical tail surface, testing showed that lateral stability was 'masked' by the wing at certain aoa so a central fin was added as a 'fix' (the dorsal intake proved workable at all aspects tested tho with no appreciable loss of airflow)

cheers, Joe
