How do you plan to do transmission changes?  You should bolt on the front belly plate.  I would not worry about the wield on the side armor.  Your vehicle will more than likely be facing heat type weapons.  I would suggest a lot of ERA panels for the turret and hull, also some clear armor panels similar for the commanders and gunners stations.

Good suggestions! I have to get some hex rod to use for bolt heads as I will be using it on several new armor panels. A two piece glacis panel and a bit of revamp to the belly armor would not be difficult at this point.

I am considering shields for the turret hatches like the Bradley BUSK and M-1 TUSK kits. ERA is in the mix too.

For Bolt Heads, can I recommend the Tichy Train Group items?

These are very nice and the range is vast... mail order, but that's just one of those things...

I wouldn't worry too much about how the armour panels were attached, you can put a filler piece in between the panel and side of the hull if you want.
If you don't, the system they use for the spaced armour on the M-113s should be useable.

Hope to see continued progress, it's looking good so far.

Cheers

And their stuff is great, I have one of their Boom Cars and a modified Snow Plow on my N scale layout and they're excellent.

Some progress! Bought some fresh Model Master OD #1911. Much better now.

Painting the rubber on the road wheels next. The engine bay hatch from the Bradley should make a nice transmission cover on the Sherman.

Now it's coming together I can get it  must admit I was having problems imagining it
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I have to make a new turret ring as the Bradley turret is much smaller than the Sherman. Drafting compass and a #11 blade, no problem!

Finished the new turret ring. Looks better now.
I need to order the bolt heads from Tichytraingroup.com and 0.040 hex rod from Plastruct.

Thanks for the positive comments. Keeps me going on these projects.

I have a question about what your intending to do with the Bradley engine bay hatch. Is the Transmission cover of the Sherman not the cast and rounded part at the front of the tank? It just sounds odd to me to use an engine bay cover to cover that part, but then I don't have any extra armoured Bradley's in my stash so have no idea what the part looks like.

It's the armor panel that bolts to the regular Bradley engine cover. Roughly a rectangle that is nearly as wide as the Sherman trans cover with the benefit of up ward opening hinges included.

I will probably understand it better when I see it then. Sounds good though.

Thanks!

There will be much finiggling with different shape armor panels. This will be the fun part!
