With the big rivets all over it almost looks as if its coated in Lego

No rivets, just lots of bolt heads. I see the Lego relationship now.
I need to paint the road wheels and track pads rubber and I don't want to use flat black. That never looks right. Any thoughts on a good tire paint color?

Very dark grey is a good rubber like colour.

Several options are available depending on your supplier/preferred paint brand

          Tamiya : XF-85 Rubber Black
       Xtracolor : X505 Tyre Black
         Humbrol : 182 Black Grey FS35042
Gunze Sangyo : H77 Tyre Black

Those are the only colours that I know of. The Humbrol one is not listed as Tyre or Rubber but it looks close enough to other colours. Of course you could just mix your own version until it looks right.

For WWII stuff I use Xtracrylic XA 1203 (RLM 66) for tyres. Has a nice gentle sheen to it. The colour of rubber is interesting. If doing WWI models then quite a light grey is useful or on some German/Austrian tyres pink !

I may have to mix something up. I have to decant some of the ruddy brown primer for touch up work too.

Thanks for the other suggestions. I'll keep my eyes peeled next time I'm at the hobby store.

Sorry, not going to use pink! These are manly models!

It takes a real man to drive a tank with pink wheels...

I use a mix of dark grey and black for rubber.  I don't mix it very well so there is variation in shade across the tyres.

I mixed some grey/gray and black to get an acceptable shade for the road wheels and track pads. Track painting has begun. Because I'm tired of putting little tiny parts on the turret.
How many shades of rust are there?

That looks excellent ! The camo sure does break it up.

Tracks! We have tracks!

I'll apply some further weathering to tone it down later.

3 in my paint stash.  More if I go the real rust paint effect route.

I was just thinking that.  While it might not hide the tank it certainly makes it hard to see its shape.  Wonder what it would look like on a plane?

There was an experiment with aircraft camp. Most ac parked on the ramp stand out from above because of their shape and shadows. This project painted the ac in a sort of splinter pattern and painted the conc the same way. By using certain colors and angular shapes it made the ac very hard to see. A strike mission on an airfield has only a few s cones to pick out their target. It could mean the difference between a hot and a miss.

Am I seeing a pattern here? :-\ ;)

I swear I had my reading glasses on when I typed that.  :banghead:
Of course it was on my phone and my big fat fingers always have trouble with that. And auto correct can have a mind of its own.

I was futzing around with the left over parts from the Academy Bradley last night when I noticed on the G sprue next to the place where it says Academy etc there was 10 bolt heads and 10 bolt with nut molded on the sprue. Nice surprise! Same size as the ones on the add on armor. I wish I had noticed these earlier! I'll be saving them for the next tank project.
