This WILL be a turboprop. I've put together the exhaust pipe, made a pipe shroud from a P-51 drop-tank and cut a hole in the fuselage side...unfortunately Photobollox is still playing up so I can't show progress shots.

I'll probably run out of month as I'm distracted by kids on holidays (they're off to Crete for eight days on the 22nd so that'll give me some clear time) and my Do335/Gaussi conversion thingy, but I'll try my best .

Don't let the end of the GB stop you, mate!

My FSBR was for a GB on BtS that ended in March & I just finished it last week.

I hope you're not expecting Mr. Wyer to sit in the cockpit, even for the odd photo or two. He was about a foot too tall to get into any Spitfire variant!  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Fuselage is together, cowling reprofiled with new nose intake for turbo. I'm battling with whether to go with the original canopy (less work ;D ) or design a new racing version.

Anyone interested in the Gulf GT40s/Porsche 917s should watch this DVD...superb:

First coat of 'powder' blue...beautiful colour and Halford spray paint is faultless as usual. Can't match the orange so I'll use a generic orange spray, just a shade different from my earlier model.

Not sure if anyone else uses them but Virage Decals are superb quality, very user friendly and as good as you can get. Great choice of logos etc.

KiwiZac

Turbine Spitfire....this'll be fun! I can't wait to see it!

Tyne? Dart? Something American?

Stalled as I'm waiting for a rattle-can of orange and the decals to arrive. Had a lot of fun on this kit, getting the nose contours and intake/exhaust right. Kept the original canopy as it looks darn good.

Spent two hours trying to upload an image yesterday but the comp just jammed...something to do with local frequencies or something...didn't understand a word of what the bloke on the phone tried to tell me. I think holidays=teenagers=games=internet overload.

A couple of months ago I saw 2 x GT40's in one week.

1st one was on a trailer but was obviously an original & had the number plate 69GT40; the 2nd was one of the new ones & just looked & sounded mean!

Left PB running this morning, forgot about it, came back just now and success:

In this case the original military aircraft has just had its military equipment removed, unlike the Kyufu which has had a major conversion.

Now that's DIFFERENT! The exhaust pipe looks really serious.  :o

Almost there. New name....Supermarine Wyerfire ;D:

Just waiting on the decals.

LOVE it!

That's going to be really something with the Gulf decals applied, 'Death Ray' Wyer would have been proud to manage that I'm sure.

How did you get that super fine black outline to the orange area please?

Had some black stripes from a Beaufighter kit. Very sharp scalpel, metal ruler and Mk.1 eyeball took care of the rest. I gloss varnished the decal sheet first as I've found this stops fine stripes from snapping .
