The latter was a copy of the Aurora Cheyenne, which I suspect is a lot easier to find.  IIRC, Anigrand have done a resin one which is superior.

I have an irrational fear of resin kits, hence the preference for the Miku kit, I'd build one as if itd just entered service, then I'd build the other as a lovechild with the AH-64D

No Monogram just did the single seater F-16XL kit in 72nd.
Fomaplane did the HS Nimrod MR1, Aircraft in Miniature re-issued it with the MR2 conversion set (Although can't think why as the Airfix kit is far easier to work with )
The Airways VC-10 is due for re-release by RAM Models later this year, and the rest of the former Airways lines are likely to follow

AiM did their kit years before Airfix even announced they were doing one, got the AiM kit in the stash, but it is getting used for something else now.  Chatting with Neil Gaunt a couple of years ago when Airfix did first announce their Nimrod he said his would probably get consigned to the retirement shelf.

Looking forward to a couple more VC-10's though, and I hope RAM does the CL-44 too (save me converting the Britannia I have)

Same here. Not truly a Holy Grail kit, but it's on the wishlist without a definitive plan. Silly prices have kept me so far from getting one.

Same goes for a 1:100 "Regult" battle pod from ARII or Bandai from the Macross anime. You get them, but at ridiculous prices.

Also had the Monogram F-19 in 1:72 on the agenda for a long time, and was eventually able to snatch one from evilbay for less than USD10 - postage to Germany from the US was more, but the overall package was still cheaper than any domestic offer that pops up once in a while. Biggest shock came when I saw the kit in person - a horribly simple snap kit, without a landing gear at all... But the basis is O.K..

I'm amazed that no-one re-popped the Otaki C-5. It's been OOP for decades and it's not a bad kit at all, it's just that there's not enough of them.

Always fancied the Revell Starfury from Babylon 5.  Two things have put me off, the price it goes for and the kits reputation.

I know I built the Formaplane one in the 80's and did my own conversion to MR2 standards, I was actually querying why McColm would earmark one for as a grail kit when he's already butchered a number of decent Airfix kits.

One other that springs to mind is the 1/24 resin Stalwart by Kit Form Services.  Lovely but way beyond my pocket.

Now I think about, so have I, sort of.  I wanted an Aoshima Airwolf  for many years, but they were difficult find and even harder at a reasonable price.  Then they brought out a completely new kit, I bought one (paid a little over the odds due to procrastinating, that's another story) so I got a different kit, but better.   I've also got a couple of Academy Hughes 500's as the ubiquitous bad guys.

Just got to pick up the courage to build as being a holy grail kit, I don't want to mess it up.    I particularly want to do it all dirty as in the scene at the end of the pilot movie where Hawke smokes Moffett.

IIRC the only Aoshima Airwolf kit is the one they released in 2009, the AMT/ERTL kit from 1984 was re-boxed/cloned by Idea/Kitech.
Was it also re-boxed by Aoshima?

I have the AMT/ERTL kit and what I like is that it can be built as a regular 222, which is what I'm doing.

The Ford Capri either Airfix or Matchbox in 1/24 or 1/25. 3 door hatchback. Starting to get rare.
The Matchbox Ford Escort is a rare beast as well.
I think Revell were thinking of releasing the Capri either this year or next year.

My understanding is that the tooling mysteriously vanished--tales conflict between scrapped, dumped in Tokyo Bay in a last act of spite by bankrupt owner, and other similar fates...

Yes.  I remember checking the box and putting it back in disgust knowing it was the AMT kit for an extortionate amount.

I'm also sorry to say that the newer Aoshima one, despite the detail and beautiful moulding may well still have the too fat look due to an incorrect angle of the camera fairings above the Turbo Thrusters, an impossibility to fix.

And the Miku Cheyenne was definitely resin, as Van883 of this parrish can attest, as it is he who bought it from me.

Always wanted to get to the bottom of this one. The most reliable info I've come across is that several molds were lost whilst in the care of Revell (incl. 1/32 Ki-61), lost at sea when the container ship sank...anyone else know if this is true.
