I have two, the absolute must-have is the Nichimo 1/20 Hughes 500. It has the option of being motorised or the complete engine, interior etc. It pops up on eBay every so often, sometimes for less than US$100, but I always seem to miss out.

The other is less important but would be nice: NKR's 1/72 Commonwealth Aircraft Corp CA-11 Woomera. It's a resin kit that's been described as being little better than a bar of soap, but it's probably easier to work with than the vac I've been battling on-and-off since December.

Now I have to add Tamiya's 1/32 Mosquito FB.VI. Having seen all the previews, reviews and holding the box...it'd probably be about the last model I ever build. It's just so good.

Two other, rather elusive kits I am watching out for are from the anime genre; one is Bandai's 1:72 "Sanka" pusher fighter (from the EX MODEL range) from The Sky Crawlers, and the other is Doyu-Sha's 1:72 "Bigfoot" mecha/robot - either the original or its re-release through Revell in the Robotech series under the "Ziyon" pseudonym.

I have no hope that the Sanka might be re-issued, finding one is one thing but the prices are insane. And chances between finding a Bigfoot or having it re-engineered by Kotobukiya, since they have been doing some (very fine) Dougram kits in 1:72 recently.

One of my holy grails at the moment is a 1/48 RAH-66 Commanche. I know they exist, as I've seen the box art numerous times, but they're as rare as rocking horse doo-doo at the moment. And they're expensive or awkward to buy whenever they do come up. Another would be the Testors 1/48 OV-10 Bronco, as that's an all-time favourite aircraft of mine, and the Testor's is the only game in town for the 1/48th so far.

I might have one in my stash but I'm not sure after all the clearouts I've had. I'll check this weekend when I get home.

I've just obtained one recently, a Micro-Mir 1/144 Blackburn Beverley.  I seriously thought we'd never see an injection model of the Beverley.

Now, with it's apparent popularity, I'm hoping a mainstream manufacturer will do it in 1/72, lookin' at you Airfix..... ;D
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hehehehe, I'm not sure they make boxes big enough for that!  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It's actually not much bigger than an A400M  -----  span wise it's only about 20 feet wider but then it's nearly 50 feet shorter    ;)

Yeah, that's one think I get from looking at the model, it's not a huge aircraft overall.  Standing next to the real one, it's got a big wing span and it's tall, but the cabin isn't particularly large.

When I was checking the potential for robbing the Tyne engines from the Airfix kit, I noticed the Vanguard's fuselage didn't look small against the Beverley.  The Beverley is an oddly proportioned aircraft, I think this makes it look a bit bigger overall than it actually is.

But it's tall, VERY tall! Especially for an aircraft that first flew in the 50s!

I can certainly agree with that. I visited the drivers seat of the Beverley at the Museum of Army Transport in Beverley before it shut down. It was a considerable hike from cargo deck to flight deck!!

Blue Thunder helicopter from the movie of the same name. :(
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

I think Aoshima might have done one too - about the same time they put out Aliens kits... all horrendously expensive in this part of the South Pacific...  :-\
