The Wooksta!

In an ideal world, an injection Avro Tudor in 72nd.

Until then, I'd like to get my hands on another Contrail Avro Tudor.

Many years ago I had a Hallam-Vac Westland Welkin vacform, mainly because I knew Ron Firth, who was 'Mr Hallam-Vac', pretty well. I never built the model and sometime in the 90s I sold it on to some other deserving cause.

Needless to say, ever since then I've been looking for another one, but it seemed they were as rare as hen's teeth. I mean with wings THAT long they're right up my street, eh?  ;D

While sorting through the model room this afternoon, looking for a missing rough cut file, I noticed a plastic bag sticking out from behind another large pile of boxes and pulled it out.

Lo and behold, it was a Hallam-Vac Welkin!!!!!!  :o :o

I have NO ideas where it came from, I certainly can't remember buying it, and it looks as if it came off the moulds yesterday. It's complete with its correct Aeroclub white metal landing gear and props, and bizarrely it has a resin Spitfire XIV radiator in a smaller bag inside. Weird.........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

But now of course Kit you are just going to have to build it, maybe standard or the ultra high altitude version with even longer wings?

The Hallam-Vac stuff was all moulded and produced by John Adams.  The Brigand certainly was.

Yes, but Ron Firth originated the idea and did the initial design. I saw the Welkin drawings and some masters in his workshop way back when.

Perhaps it's the one you sold and you forgot to post it?
 :o

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Hehehe, no, it can't be. I sold the original one from a box under the club stand at show.

Well a new 1/700 USS Midway is now confirmed from Orange Hobby

As my ARII sits nearly finished right here by me.   Just getting that island correct and complete, then adapt the Enterprise/Nimitz PE and finish the air group.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

I just found this thread... there's always a "Holy Grail" item for any collector, no matter the community, isn't there.

For me, I've been searching long and hard for a 1/72 Macchi M.52 from Vintage Models. I've seen the MC.72 a few times, but there's just something about the bulged nose of the M.52 that just looks cool... I mean even more than float planes usually do.

Isn't it great when you finally actually get one of these "Holy Grail" kits? I had to fight for it on eBay... paid more than my top-dollar budget... but my birthday is coming up. :)
Thanks!

Hm. Didn't buy them back when they were reissued, because I thought that "Italeri, that's so mainstream they'll always be available second-hand at a cheaper price". Now it seems that reasonably priced 1/72 YF-12A and A-26K/B-26K Counter Invader have all but disappeared even from Evilbay.

I picked up one of my 'holy grail' kits at a local hobby store 'stash clearance' the Heller 1/75 Super Broussard, on id been after for a number of years ever since finding out its 'near enough' scale :)

hmm, methinks a speculative 1960's French air force transport with glistening white roof and blue cheatlines, ideal for French Indian ocean or Pacific territories :)

just place my order with Sanger models for the B52-H vacform he's selling, yup 1:48 scale.
Its pre budgeted, ( the moneys been put away for it for 2 years or so) so doesn't affect my day to day budget
