ISTR that was announced but never actually released?

Hobby Boss put one out about five years ago, though.

The weird thing is it was in a Dragon catalog many many moons ago and that was that ..even scalemates have nothing on it and when ya do some net hunting you get nothing at all ..yep the Hobbyboss is out there but I'm not paying over $70NZ for one that's for sure ..there's resin kits out there but again ..stupid money .
It does suck as the Hobbyboss kit will be quite nice for sure ..their HUMVEEs are very nice and so is their M1070 and M1000 trailer 😀
I really must paint mine at some point

I'd quite like a 1/72 ACV landing craft.
I should have bought one when they were available.
Mind you, i wouldn't have built it yet (like a lot of the stuff I thought I had to have now).

The Wooksta!

The only real Holy Grail for me is an exceedingly rare kit by a decidedly obscure German outfit called G Modelle. AFAIK, they only did four resin kits and a pair of vac forms, the only one I didn't get the Blohm und Voss Bv 144 airliner. I've only only seen two in 30 years and never been able to buy either.

The USN  LCAC you mean?

I've got one and it's MASSIVE!

Still not large enough to fly a Harrier from though, which was my Whiffing plan for it.  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

This one?

You cannot view this attachment.

I know there's a 1:35 scale resin kit that part of me wants to buy and build, but part of me thinks I would never actually do or finish ...

Unless, of course, you do mean an LCAC:

I have the 1:144 scale Trumpeter kit, and even finished it. 1:72 would be fairly impressive — in 1:144 it's already about the size of a 1:35 scale tank.

That's an SRN5, or a Bell copy of one anyway.

It is, and the skirts are things of wonder! All moulded in one piece!

In Vietnam-War American terms, it's either a PACV (Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle) or just ACV, which is why I wondered if you meant that one :)

Not that easy to fit, though. I think mine isn't on 100% right because it was bent out of shape slightly, despite being made from soft, rubber-like plastic.

Old 1:72 scale DH 88 Comet racer kits all have execrable canopies - the Kelloggs one doesn't even include one. Even the Whirlybirds aftermarket vac-form is too short. Plastic Passion once announced a DH.88 Comet Racer Update Set (No. 72002) but I have never seen one for sale. Was it an abortive thing, just the Whirlybird bits repackaged, or just what I have been looking for all these years?

Does the Monogram 1:72 scale F-16XL "cranked-arrow" variant count, or is it still too new? I picked one up the other day, part-assembled and in a very battered box, but it's all there.  :)

One of those old Revell 1:24 scale vintage wire-spoked motor bikes. I need the wheels for a whiff I have in mind...
Cheers.

It is a 40 year old kit now but, even if it isn't for others, it counts for me, congrats on the acquisition!
It's also one of mine and took me a while to find a couple of kits selling at decent prices... and i haven't seen any selling on ebay for some time now... :(

Modelsvit is one company that has released quite a few rare types in recent years and i wonder if the XL could be on their project list... they have stuff like the two Mig-21 delta wing prototypes and i'm certain that a styrene modern tooling of both single and twin seat XLs in 1/72 would sell at least as well as those two... I wonder why no other kit brands have done it since the Monogram kit... :banghead:

Modelsvit don't even do the BAC 221, the Uk equivalent to those MiGs. Understanadable that they have a strong emphasis on the East European types so ignored by Western kitmakers. Still, I would not sniff at a 2-seaterXL with the asymmetric wing roots as an option, the Monogram inaccuracies fixed and a better idea than moulding the nose pitot tube in with the entire fuselage-wing upper surface. One unique brilliance about the Monogram kit is its tinted canopy. Why do they and other manufacturers not do this as standard on types which have that for real?
Cheers.

Be hones now, would you rather buy an oversize box, a separate bag for each sprue,  a 20-page instruction leaflet in full colour and a canopy the wrong colour, or a sensible box, one bag, a folded black-and-white instruction sheet and an accurate canopy?
Cheers.

DogfighterZen

Well, as you say, they seem to concentrate on eastern European and Soviet types but they have the only 1/48 P-51H, for example.
Even if only for the business perspective, i believe that it would be a good bet but, i guess i'm a bit biased... ;D

Yes.  An LCAC.  I can never remember that particular initialisation.  There was both 1/144 and 1/72 US and Japanese kits done.
I lust after the 1/72 as I would then have another reason to whiff 1/72 vehicles.
