Yes and so.  It used an internal combustion engine to run the compressor which in turn burnt fuel, which provided thrust.  I would classify it as a jet as it relied upon the stream of compressed air in which fuel was burnt for thrust.  Therefore, it isn't allowed.

The CC-1 was a 'jet propelled aeroplane' but its compressor was driven by a piston engine and it had no turbine, so it wasn't a 'gas turbine' like the Heinkel He 178 or the Gloster-Whittle E28/39.

It did manage to fly in August 1940 though.....

I also had some He-112 plans. I was going to use a Lindberg He-100 nose on the Heller He-112. I also had a Special Hobby Fw-187 I had plans for. Just thinking those that are a bit too eager to start could always knock out an OOB Battle of Britain build as there are plenty of off the shelf kits available and probably in peoples stashes that would do the trick.

Do a standard early Spitfire or Hurricane, Me-109 or any of the Luftwaffe Bombers, should get people in the mood for doing your Whif build and can be used to set context for your Whif build once finished  :thumbsup:

The moderators have deliberated and we're going to leave things as they for the time being.

If further 'excursions' need splitting off we'll do so if necessary, but for now we'll carry on here as we are.

True. Fair enough. I was just playing it safe. I've had my eyes scratched out on other sites for various transgressions and being my first participation in a GB here figured I'd take the safe road.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have to go check my wardrobe to ensure I haven't any dresses in there....... :D

Can I do an Alison engined Mustang? First flight 26 Oct. 1940, in Sqn service (allegedly)
And invented by The British ;)
Late 1941 early 1942. Fits the moveable 18 month forward/backward timeframe for developments

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

I was thinking the same, if the Mods permit it?  Who makes a 1/72 -1/76 kit?
