Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

If France imported DB 601 engine then obtains a license from Germany and used it on Dewoitine D. 520.
And Morane Saulnier obtained a license for production Bf 109 E-4.

How about a squadron or two of Belgian, Dutch, Danish or French fighters escape to Britain as a coherent unit, and fight in the BoB with their original aircraft hastily repainted? It might be a decision of their governments to preserve some forces abroad for the future despite the short-term fight being hopeless: similar thinking to how Iraq sent some of it's air force to Iran in GW1.

Of course, orphan fleets of oddball aircraft would stay viable for long, but they might last until the end of the BoB. Here's a supporting notion: suppose one of the Belgian or Dutch companies won a pre-war export order that they didn't have the production capacity to meet, so they enaged a UK manufacturer to make them under licence. That would result in tooling and spares for the type being available in the UK.

Given that the Fokker D.XXI had a licence-built Bristol Mercury engine, maybe Bristol aircraft would be a suitable partner?

In the Alt WWII scenario I've been using for years France fights on and I've built various types in French service in full French markings
