Now today is the 75th Anniversary of the start of the London Blitz, the first of 57 consecutive nights on which London was bombed. So it falls within the bounds of this build. So you can happily play with night bombers and their opponents.

Right now I'm watching 'Blitz Cities' on Beeb 1 which is about exactly that. Fascinating stuff, and I'm glad I missed it, if only by two years!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I had a similar idea, but my thoughts centered around the Zero and other IJN carrier aircraft as an air wing for a potential German carrier air group as opposed to being involved in BoB participation. Aside from the Zero, I think an Aichi B7A would look really good in German markings.

Historically it wasn't so, but if the Axis had done slightly more cooperation with regards to producing and exporting aircraft among themselves there are some very intriguing possibilities involving Italian, German and Japanese aircraft in various markings (including Hungarian, Bulgarian, Romanian and Finnish markings....).

Couple of Allied ideas I had were Typhoon/Tempest in USAAF markings. Typhoon in Russian markings as a Lend Lease bird. How about Tempest in French markings, late war or possibly in Indochina conflict after the war (Yes, I'm on a bit of a Typhoon/Tempest kick right now). :)

Did I also mention I have a spreadsheet with a listing of aircraft and possible alternate what-if marking options (mostly because I'm sick in the head, have too much time on my hands and have not much else to do other than go to work and household chores....). :D

True. That scene is inspiring tho....you see the 109 ( I think it was a Taifun ? ) sputtering, trailing smoke, and then a chute.....and the Spit comes in, pulls up and rolls over the town houses as everybody cheers....awesome stuff.

Built a US and Soviet Typhoon (along with Italian post war and a couple of others a few years ago), also built Cloisterman's Tempest in French colours as in my world France fights on. Two of my favourite aircraft and the fact I've built them means now't as I'd love to see your take on them   :thumbsup: Bit to early for this GB though. The Tornado would fit in but I built mine a year or so ago.

As for the Zero. In John Baxter's Alternate Luftwaffe V.3 - North Africa and the Middle East the RAAF fly them in Egypt as the Brumby.

I've still got an unused ABT decal sheet for Closterman's 'Vieux Charles', but I've never owned a 1/72 Typhoon kit ever, not a Sabre powered Typhoon anyway. I really should get one and see how a 1960s decal sheet works on a 21st century kit.

I've used some old transfer sheets recently - mid 60's - and they worked fine. It was a His Air Dec sheet.

I also have a couple of old ESCI sheets full of Italian unit markings which still work fine

I've gotten some old Almarks sheets recently - not had good results, but will try a coat of varnish/micro decal film over them first in future.
