Would look good like that tho, especially if it had a funny wheel arrangement, like 4 tail wheels or a somat similar under the mains

Guys.. guys, you all know me, and you know I wouldn't do a JPS Spitfire, would I ??   - The black is a base-coat, that's all. The JPS thing, that was a joke... Which perhaps I should have made more clear - my apologies:

OK, back to the model. Next job is to polish-back the black with Micro-Mesh cloths to get it ready for the top coat. Also I'll mask the area that will remain black. If the weather holds, that could happen early next week. Today (in a few mins actually), KiwiZac is coming-over with a model he needs to spray, so he'll be using my hobby room/Man-Cave.

Have a great weekend everyone, see you next week, real life permitting.

Ian.

I don't (G'day ) but even if I did anything is possible here so nothing should be discounted.  Well, maybe nothing except Kit shortening the wings on something.
JPS armed Spitfire - TAKE THAT YOU FILTHY NON-SMOKERS!!! DAKA  DAKA DAKA DAKA....

So you putting on Aclad Chrome or Aluminium?  Personally I'd love to see it in Chrome.

Perish the thought!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I still think it would be hilarious with a set of bogeys for the mains wheels...with fancy gold rims !

That's too cool that yourself and Zac get to hang out. I've met a few fellow whiffers via this site, awesome experience and one more reason the internet is what you make of it.

Didn't someone here do a profile of a racing JPS Spitfire a while back?

It's been a while since Clave did a JPS Spitfire 21

That's it, EXACTLY the one I was thinking of.

I rather doubt it would ever have been powered by a Renault engine, turbo or not!  :o

As good as the photos are, this model looks brilliant in the flesh! As I arrived on Saturday morning, Ian was polishing the already (to me) flawless black finish, and got the first coat of silver underneath with his airbrush. He pre-empted any questions I had about the colour scheme - "I'm not telling you anything!". I didn't take any photos as I didn't know what was embargoed...note I didn't say what colour silver!

Captain - it is very cool! Ian and his family are very welcoming and live fairly close to my in-laws, so a visit isn't a major proposition. Plus he gave me free rein to check out his stash, and open any boxes I liked for a look at kits I've only ever seen online. A very fun day was had!

I can't wait.  I only have a 1 in 3 success rate with Alclad chrome on car builds.

Silver on:

Nothing special (like Alclad), just Xtracolour 'RAF High Speed Silver' enamel. Couple of light coats at aroung 15psi, then when dried, polished with Micro-Mesh cloths until glassy smooth.

Some colour happened this morning:

If there's time tomorrow, I'll add the stabilisers and mask/spray the prop & spinner. Thanks for taking the time to look and/or comment, folks, stay tuned.
