Maybe they didn't use a turret as such ? You could say that as no one really had any enthusiasm for the idea Messerschmitt or whoever just installed as semi exposed turret which still had full traverse but necessitated the gunner wearing a scarf and mittens ?  ;D

Scarf and mittens. Surely it would have been a Silk scarf and leather gauntlets. The Luftwaffe did have an image to keep up.

Yup but the gunner would be an enlisted man so the propaganda photographs would probably portray them as being provided and knitted by his loving gran/mum/aunt/sister/daughter  ;D
