an absolutely box stock Bf 109 painted exactly as per the instruction sheet but with one colour changed...

Designed to spark anger and hatred amongst the JMNs ? And too right Chris, everybody sees colours different. Especially women trying on clothes

I'd rather spark confusion, puzzlement, acceptance and ultimately love.

Good call. It makes sense that. People often resist, but then think, and then enjoy...and a properly done whif might actually attract a few people to the dark side ! Become enlightened and join the dark side lol.

Hmmm, this build made me think about a less sophisticated alternative from Fiat. After all, an Italian "expedition force" attacked the British isle in late 1940. The single leftover DB601 from a Matchbox Bf 110 (digged up my Ki-46 conversion, but I only have one  :-\) made me wonder if I could graft it onto something ...and found the G.50. Have to think this through, but the idea has potential for #9 or so...

i've been doing some research into RLM colours in model paint.

Wooooeeeeeeee what a can of worms.
It strikes me that there are a lot of people getting their knickers in a twist over something that in the grand scheme of things is irrelevant.

Tell them it's painted in RLM 666 KolorPolitzeiGrau...

The one I love is when people start arguing about Spanish Civil War colours based on black and white photographs...

Want to start all sorts of fun on the 'serious' boards?

Start a discussion about the 'proper' shade of Olive Drab...

Or ask what colour should be behind the rear scalloped windows on early P-40s...

Sit back and watch the fun.

And then, for dessert go to a car modelling forum and casually ask them what a muscle car is, what the first example was and can one have 4 doors and/or an engine other than a V8...

Neat idea... maybe post a pic of the late HX-HZ Monaros while you're at it? Or the Phase III?

Cheers

Yep, those and the Vaiiant Chargers cause consternation.  Of course some try to argue only US cars qualify.

I was about to rescribe some of the lost panel lines on the Folgore today when I noticed there was a smear of filler needed on the tail.

Ol' Sparky is now undercoated and ready to begin the painting.
I did take a photo but it was on my phone and it was spectacularly bad.  Even worse than my usual phone pics.  It's a big white plane shaped blur with some crisp, perfectly focussed leaf litter behind it.

First stage will be the yellow (RLM 04) nose and rudder which will be masked when dry to allow the application of light blue (RLM 65) on the underneath and sides.  Following that the topsides will get some grey green (RLM 02).
I won't be preshading because quite frankly I can't be donkeyed and anyway I always put on too much paint and hide it.

Yellow (04) nose and rudder.

Brush painted because it was easier than having to clean the airbrush after such a small amount of painting.

Nice one. Looks German already ! I agree with that painting sentiment there.

There will now be a slight hiatus with the Folgore while I catch up with the Bf 110 so I can paint them both together.  It struck me today that this would be sensible as i'll be using the same colours more or less.
Won't be long, PSR is finished on the 110, just needs undercoating in white and then yellow bits.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

zenrat

No.  I just spent 4 days laying a floating floor in an 8m by 6m room (on top of my usual job) so i'm slightly fatigued.  Must be affecting my thinking.
;D
