*Was. My idea is that Supermarine had realised that the type 224 was flawed because of the evaporation engine, they then replaced it with a better engine (not sure which one) and evolution took its course and eventually gave birth to the Serpent

That's the Steam-Cooled beastie?

It is, or was anyway, with the RR Goshawk engine.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Good man! I did a Rareplanes vac one - my first vac! - but hacked off the exhausts and replaced them with triple-stack ones from a Spitfire Mk.I. In my world it went into service as the Spitfire and the later, elliptical-wing machine we all know was the Shrew. My Spitfire was a Regia Aeronautica one, because why not!

Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Wow, that sounds far more accurate  ;D have you got a link to it?  <_< and I couldn't bring myself to deface one of my spits, and I had a ruined hurricane used for testing purposes so I've used that instead
