Needs a name. Starting a thread for this one as it should be finished first ! Really seem to enjoy hacking and drilling and cutting these days

Using the Hurricane as a guide, but it will probably have Spitfire spares as legs.

Drilled a bunch of holes and then scraped and hacked etc. Once painted up and with a piece of styrene to busy it up it'll be close enough. Also marked off where I will scribe in the flaps.

Busied up the cockpit with bits. I'm using the open canopy option from the Airfix Gladiator for it. Still need to finish the painting but shes getting there.

Supermarine Sawfly ? Stinger ?

Scargill ? That was a nasty little insect in the UK some years back.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I was thinking Midge ! They were attacking some tinker the first time I was in Stornoway, Scotland but I think she was hallucinating ! Problem is, the thing is actually bigger than you think ! But I like the name and I'll go with it !

RUBBISH! Scottish Midges are fall smaller than anyone expects, and far nastier than you can imagine.
I lived, and worked, in Stornoway for three and a half years (my first posting as a civil ATCO) and the only way I found to be safe from the midges was to go fishing with George (an electrician who worked on the airfield with us). He smoked a pipe with the most evil smelling tobacco that you can imagine. The midges agreed!

Yes you are right I was thinking of the wrong manufacturer, Darn!

I was talking about the Comet being big ! Midges are so small that a small aeroplane should be named after them

Midges may be small, but their effect is enormous.  I was given an effective repellent by a contact in the Forestry Commission.  Be sure that you ONLY store it in a  glass  bottle, he said, it seems to melt plastic!

The aircraft is not huge, but needs a substantial sting.  How about a couple of 20mm cannon in the fuselage, firing through the prop arc  from troughs under the fuselage?

It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

DH.96 Wasp! 96 and 97 don't appear to have been used, and I can't find a DH Wasp. My two cents :)

Uh, lovely!

Did not expect that the single engine conversion would look so well! Excellent.

Looking forward to see what this insect becomes.

According to my research the RAAF version of the single engined Comet was locally known as the De Havilland Blow Fly.  AKA the Dunny Budgie...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Cheers guys. Maybe wasp but know by the crews as the Midge.

And Dunny Budgie in Australia

Again the flash ruins the pic....doesn't even look like there's paint under it. I was going to add those underwing guns from the Galdiator, but of course forgot to before I painted or cleaned up the 'real' engine mounting holes. I also forgot to add some intakes and details around the engine.

Camo started too
