Gondor's Modelling Rule Number Three: Everything will fit perfectly untill you apply glue...

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Very French, or maybe 'Tres Francais'.........  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Merci bien. The French Wildcat looks really pretty, the pics do not do it justice (yet). It's a rather simple livery, but so far the thing looks very convincing.
Not much mroe work to do, just the prop and the landing gear (both OOB) - but I am waiting for some decals (coming in from the Ukraine... ), so the Belgian sister will probably start before this one can be finished.

Spey_Phantom

looks great, it reminds me of the French Aeronavale Wildcat ive seen at the Brugges modelshow a few years ago

-all kinds of things.

That's AFAIK the AZ Models kit - but it looks as if the fuselage-mounted machine guns were added.
There's a whif kit that also contains a Greek and a British option.

For a moment there I though you'd finished already...

Not far off though.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The etch-a-sketch maps were always unpredictable

At the moment, as far as it gets (Ukrainian decals still pending). In order to add some retro look I decided not (only) to apply the tactical code in white letters - I also added the same in white underneath, creating a kind of 3d/shadow look - done with separate letters and numbers from TL Modellbau.

Wonderful idea.

I love shadow lettering, it has a style all its own.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Odd.  This is the second reference to etch a sketch recently - the other one was when I goggled "how to make thermite" last week...
