Inspired by the inspiration thread (funnily enough) it was brought to my attention that Germany didn't have a dedicated torpedo bomber in the early years of ww2.... Which got me thinking, what would the outcome be if the Luftwaffe could affectively attack allied shipping in the channel and in the Atlantic? So, my idea is that what if, after loosing the RLM contract for a single engined reconnaissance aircraft to Focke Wulf, although a more superior design, Blohm & Voss didn't win because the RLM did not approve of unconventional designs. So, undeterred, B&V created a twin engined version of  the 141, and seeing an opportunity to fill the gap, the decision was taken to create a torpedo bomber. The prototype was completed within a week of loosing the contract as two existing Bv.141's were simply merged together. Performance figures were highly promising and the RLM were immediately impressed And the newly appointed Bv.282 "Nix" was pressed into service in early June 1940. The top speed of the Bv.282 V1 was 322mph. There were three crew members, one pilot, one aimer/navigator and one gunner (operating both the dorsal and rear gun positions)
Pictures will start appearing soon and will trickle in until completion  ;D

Interesting idea - symmetricising an asymmetric plane.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Here's the latest progress of the Bv.282, even has its torpedo mounts, courtesy of Army of one

Looks a bit like an ekranoplan here

What a great idea, and such fast building too. Are you related to Dizzy by any chance?  ;D

Tophe will still love it, what with twin booms and asymmetric tailplanes.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

What a great idea,

Yep, another one of those jobs that will cause some forehead-slapping accompanied by mutterings of "Why didn't I think of that?!"

Hahaha, I'm sure I'll get bogged down in the finer details and PSR now  ;)

Why thank you, but as per usual, while googling,  I stumbled across a very similar build. But luckily mine differs in several ways so I can still claim originality

well constructed

and re-symetrizing the asymetry?

Thank you for the comments everyone  ;D as always, the idea's there for the taking if anyone wants to copy or do their own version or something.... I might do a heavy ground attack or night fighter version at some point, and continuing the re-symetrizing theme, might try a bv p.194 project too

Thanks Tom, real is how I want it to appear

Just thought,  you could do a high altitude recon version for Kit's approval

It already has my full approval for such a way out, yet logical idea.

But the wings could be longer............  ;) ;D
