i posted this back on KG144, but just for you guys, im posting it here to :)

this will be a review of the new Revell US Army vehicle set.

if you have aquired revell's 1/144 LSM (Landing Ship Medium), you are propably already familiar with these kits,
if not, then you might want to see this.

just like the Bundeswehr set, the set contains 2 sprues, each containing parts for 3 vehicles, thats 6 in total.
the box contains part for 2 M4 Sherman tanks, 2 M8 Greyhound armoured vehicles and 2 CCKW 353 trucks.
these are moulded in the same green plastic as the Bundeswehr sets.

first of, the box, in the new revell style.

instruction booklet, also color printed,....

the decals, and again, the same mistake as in the Bundeswehr set, only decals for 3 out of 6 models

the sprues

Final Thought:

as with the bundeswehr set, its one of revell's first armour models in 1/144 scale.
the vehicles look very well detailed, and look great.
the price is also very reasonable, at 10 euro's for the set, its very good vallue for money.
a recommended buy if your into armour.

Positive:
-very good detail on all kits
-very good price, lot of kit for your buck.

Negative
-only decals for half the models

final rating: 8/10. (to change when actually built).
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Revell has just released, for the first time ever, a series of 1/144 scale vehicles, a set of WW2 US Army vehicles, and a set of 1950's Bundeswehr (Federal German Army) vehicles.

i will be reviewing both sets, beginning with the Bundeswehr set.
this set contains 3 vehicles, 2 of each, so that makes 6 models, so i got a good deal for the 10 euro's i paid  8-)
the box contain 2 M47 Patton tanks, 2 HS.30 armoured transports and 2 MAN Emma 5t gl trucks.

first off, the box, its one of the first sets of revell kits to be packed in the new black boxing, witch will be standard for all new revell kits.

the decals, looking good, although this is where i noticed the first mistake on Revells behalf; there's only decals for 3 vehicles (out of the set of 6).

the instructions, the box isnt the only change revell introduced, all instructions are now color printed, similar to what Airfix is doing with there newer kits.  8-)

the sprue's, i wanst expecting much from the previews ive seen on Revell's website, but the details on the kits are very good.
the box contains 2 sprues, moulded in dark green plastic, each containing parts for 3 different vehicles.

final thought:

for revell's first attempt at 1/144 scale amour, this looks very good, and judging from the content in the box, you get a lot of bang for your buck.
the vehicles look very well detailed, even at this scale. the only downside i found is that there are only decals for half of the vehicles, they should have concidered putting 2 scheets in each box.
i wont be able to judge the fit of this kit until i actually start building them.
but from what im seeing, i hope revell brings out more of these sets in the future, maybe some modern day tanks, both EU, US and Russian vehicles?

positive:

-a lot of kit for your money
-very good detail

negative:

-not enough decals for all 6 vehicles

my rating: 8/10 (rating could change when the building is done)

How stupid is that?  :banghead:

I think an email to their spares dept. claiming another set would be in order there.

Very cool ! Thanks for the reviews. I wouldn't mind snagging a few of them myself, and the landing ship. I'm guessing those floats on the Sherman sprues are leftovers from that kit ?

It looks like you get decals for the 4 armored vehicles. I expect the two trucks don't need decals (no crosses or large numbers on those IIRC)

Ah ha, i know the WW2 Allied vehigles is from their 1/144 LSM

Note the carley floats !

Well judging by the Post War West German set and the Life Raft canisters, that means Revell plans(or planned) a post war LSM kit as used by West Germany

Hi all

Hobbes is right regarding the Bundeswehr decals, only tanks and armoured vehicles wore (and wear) the cross.

"spot-on" with that prediction, not only a Bundesmarine version - but, one with flight deck and Bristol Sycamore (in 1/144!):

Only decals for half of the models? Weird (or just a mistake)!

If you have a Revell-kit and missing a part or decals, just send an e-mail to Revell (to "department-x") describe the missing part (what letter of the sprueframe, what number of the part) and the serial-/order-number of the kit, and they will send the missing parts and decals within some weeks (without cost!).
Trust we, it works (by own experience).
