The Vickers Wellesley was born from Air Ministry Specification G.4/31 which called for a general purpose aircraft, capable of carrying out level bombing, army co-operation, dive bombing, reconnaissance, casualty evacuation and torpedo bombing. Though the Wellesley was obviously an out and out long range light bomber.

What if Vickers presented another aircraft proposal? One more suited to the roles that the Wellesley wasn't I.e. Army co-op, dive bombing, cas-evac and torpedo bombing... Essentially a short winged Wellesley.

I'm sort of seeing it as a radial battle. Any thoughts?

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Vickers official entry to G.4/31 was the Type 253 biplane, the Wellesley was a side venture.

Can I suggest it be called the Vickers Wallington?  It's a name i've been kicking around recently which might be rather appropriate given Wallington is where Croydon Aerodrome was.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You know Mr. Neanderthal, for a certain value of "Something" that does look something!
Even if it is a bit like the size 6 models that grace the catwalks these days.

Great idea. Love the 523 as well. Never seen that one ! I could see a scale-o-rama of a 48th bi-plane into a 72nd scale variant.

My automatic 'short wing' filters swing into action looking at such things so I only see a grey blur in those cases...........  ;D

I've a spare set of Fairey Battle wings/undercarriage to help this build along. PM if you're interested.
