NARSES2

Right just so we all know where we are I thought I post a GB update.

The current BoB GB will finish on the 20th December.

I am thinking of running the next GB, which is the Cold War GB from Jan 1st through to March 31st. I have PM'd two of the foolhardy   ;D brave gents who put their hands up as possible moderators of GB's to see if they can still do it. If they can't then I will be looking for other brave souls.

Once that is over we will have the 1 Week GB sometime in April - dates to be decided once I factor Easter into the equation. We will also run the 2016 GB Poll in April/May with the first main GB of 2016 kicking off in Late May or June.

Now next years poll will include all those that missed out this year plus any new ones you come up with at the time, not now, so you don't have to track back on them. I kept a list of all the suggestions.

Anyway that's it, just thought I'd update you all on my current thinking

Sounds like a plan Chris- I do indeed like having a clear GB schedule, with no overlap, so I can plan ahead: think, ponder, purchace, re-think, buy more....  I think three, 90 day builds, per year (and the 1 weeker) is perfect.   Enough builds to keep interest (or sit one out), but not too much to be overwhelming.

Cold War victim already in the stash....

Thank you so much for keeping this on-track.

Thanks Chris.

I've got a heap of 50's, 60's & 70's soviets in the stash but i'm getting the urge to build a Flanker or a PAK FA.
I'd better pay a visit to a Hobby Shop tomorrow.

Not sure if it's been done before, but how about a Red Green Group Build for next year? I don't want to moderate though. I'd rather let someone else do that. For those that don't know who or what Red Green is, check here:
http://www.redgreen.com/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Green_Show

One of the main/funniest skits on the show is The Handyman Corner where Red tries to build something from old, discarded, etc. stuff such as a pontoon boat, dragster, etc.  But the "catch" is that he always has to use duct tape to hold various parts and pieces together when building various contraptions.  ;D  If we were to do a Red Green Group Build, I suggest we make it a rule that duct tape be used when building the model. All models built must be kitbashed. Must be something odd, unique, and crazy. In other words, try to come up with something that Red Green would probably build.  Any other suggestions?  Remember, if women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. ;)
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

PR19_Kit

As I mentioned in Gondor's F-111K build thread, how about a 'Shelf Queen' GB?

The primary property of the model is that it has to have been already started at least 10 years ago, and it should have major portions of the structure already assembled, just the cockpit doesn't count.

That way we may be persuaded to finish off some of our long shelved projects, and I've got over 60 of them!  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Tim Taylor GB.  Build anything you want but you must brand it Binford and add MORE POWER.

Lads as said in my original post please keep your suggestions for GB's until such time as we ask for them for next years poll. Couple of reasons.

A) I want them all in one place, I don't want to be checking various threads. Whence I doubt very much if I will look here for them.

B) I want to keep this thread for information on the current/future agreed GB's

As far as the Cold War GB is concerned we have two volunteers for moderators - Weaver and Crudebuteffective, so thank you to them ., and we will be starting to formulate the rules for it during the coming week so as to get it up for your perusal the following week.

Apologies but real life, or what passes for it at this time of year, intervenes. Will now be Wednesday. Nothing to do with your Moderators (Weaver and Crude but Effective) as they have done their bits. It's purely down to me, sorry about that

Right I'm going to do a slightly silly thing and put some dates down for the 2016 GB Calendar

2016 GB Poll to be held 10th to 17th April

I'm looking at running the 1 Week GB 24th April to 1st May

First GB of 2016 running mid May to mid August ? Then mid Sept to mid Dec followed by the final one mid Jan to mid March 2017

Anyway not set in stone yet but any comments welcome
