Looked like a veritable Lightning Fest on the SIG stand!  ;D

I didn't realise it was in the Heritage Centre, I'd have got the railway connection otherwise as I know the place pretty well.

That APT-P ther is the ONLY example of the later electric powered versions, and it's in good hands again as my mate Rob Latham is now back in charge of its restoration after some jobs-worth banned him from the site for some years, stupidity rules OK.  :banghead:

Dad and me had a wander around the APT, we thought the internal fixtures and fittings seemed rather flimsy and cheap for what was ment to be a flagship for BR at the time.
Mind you, I like the fact she was parked in full view of the west coast mainline.
almost as if she was saying "I will not go quietly into history, but sit here proudly and remind every one who passes that I led the way to modern high speed trains".
I always hope for the best.

They were lightweight fittings and furniture etc. as it was important to keep the weight down.

And remember the three APT-Ps they built were 'prototypes', that's what the P stood for. The service trains, APT-S, or APT-U, would have been quite a bit different after the P-Trains had carried out their development period, if they'd been allowed to of course......

Okay, pics are uploaded to Photobucket here: http://s35.photobucket.com/user/hws5mp/library/Crewe%20Show%202016?sort=3&page=2

I didn't take a lot because many of the club stands, and the models on them, were the same as the Huddersfield show the week before.

Some highlights:

Big ships seem to be in at the moment. This is a scratchbuilt 1/72nd scale USS Arizona which the guy's been building for four years and which isn't finished yet:

And this is a 1/90th(?) scale HMS Dreadnought which was entirely scratchbuilt from recycled materials for a total cost of £15:

This guy's railway-style dioramas had some lovely work in them:

Various other nice things:

Hank's lad Max is getting to be quite the modeller at age 7:

Got him on the research side yet ? although no Purnells History of the World Wars to act as nice introductions to the History, the battles and the military hardware.

Sort of......ha has a few books......always looking at mine.....he understands a few things.....he watched the 1967 BoB film and decided he wanted to do makeca Heinkel 111 with the white markings on the wing/tail. He knows of some air battles......BoB is the main one, he has seen a few programmes on discovery channel about the battle in the pacific and the great marianas turkey shoot. Have to balance it with his school work........

The 'dyne looks good although shouldn't the vertical tails be folded?

Do they get taught any history at 7?
You could always work it into his school work - Fatty Goering starts with 97 Me 109's.  23 crash on take off, Galland suffers an Ashtray fire and 17 are forced to turn back with misfiring engines due to the Maquis seeing in their fuel.  How many would have been shot down by the RAF if Defiants had forward firing guns and tactics to match?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
