A bit bleak, but I like the idea and story behind it. 

It's a matter of personal preference, but for myself, I don't like to sugar-coat the nature of the conflicts that spawn most of the artifacts we model (unless they're deliberately fantastical or silly, of course). I think the fact that they're 'beautiful killing machines' needs to be faced up to, not avoided.
