From a charity shop in Hereford today; an Airfix Spitfire Ia starter kit for 99p.  Unopened, with 4 potlets of paint, a brush and even a tubule of poly cement.   A bargain!!

It may become an RAFVR aircraft from 1946, either based at RAF Jurby Isle of Man with a red  triskel(the funny Manx three legged thing) in the centre of the roundel or possibly RAF Squires Gate (Blackpool) with a red rose centre .

The other alternative is a Foreign Office (unarmed) dispatch aircraft with the King's Messenger greyhound symbol .

Anybody got any other off the wall ideas?
Beer carrier-two casks/barrels carried under the wings.
Move the cockpit to the tail rudder.

Didn't they actually do this over Normandy with Henty & Constable Best Bitter?.......someone here is bound to know!

I think it flew a few trips as I swear I've seen her with different types of barrel.

Some say it was a put up job by the Min of Propaganda others beg to differ. Me ? I've not seen anything to enable me to formulate my own opinion
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Popped over to HMW today and got hold of the brand new Airfix 1/48 Gloster Meteor F.Mk.8.

Popped into Gatwick Aero Park as it re opened yesterday......and found a few pristine old 1/72 Airfix kits......had a few there, i got a Shooting Star and a Thunderstreak......i left  (from memory.....) a Viggen, a skinny Mig 21, a Jaguar, a Starfighter and EE lightning. There were others but can't remember them. All at........ £3 each........a novo bristol research aircraft......almost an open cockpit chipmunk/monoplane tigermoth........about 10-12 kits on display.
Spoke to an old chap.....a Sqn Ldr who flew Shackeltons.......great chat......then went onboard all over the Shack there.....an i mean all over.....could sit anywhere but i couldn't squeeze into the seat at the nose for the gunner.......an old navigator on board gave a mini tour and was full of great stories......really enjoyable time.....

Good price that, although the aircraft itself looks like something you have already worked your magic on , should be rather interesting what sort of ideas you get for this one

Every time Sam looks at my laptop it's either tank models, tank games or real tanks. "Oh God..."

Just keep repeating the following mantra............

"There are only two types of model's. Aircraft and Targets!"

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.
