Bountiful day out at Cosford today...

There was a stall selling off somebody's stash at clearance prices and bulk deals. Thing is, the previous owner's idea of double-boxing was to put small kits in with big kits leading to some unlikely but super-value combinations. That makes it kinda hard to say how much each model cost, but this little lot in total, was a princely £33.00 for 21 models.....
 :drink:

Are Stuarts really that small or have they drawn the commander too large?

I'm off to the CHSs (City Hobby Shops - including one new to me) today.
I just got paid but I have a list.  Wish me restraint.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

They really are that small, it seems. Do a Google Images search, it's quite surprising!

They are/were VERY compact vehicles. I wonder how all the equipment stuff AND the crew went into it, and it was pretty fast, too. Going cross-country must have been tough...

Bought a 1/72 Playfix Kits:
Be-6 Madge
Military Flying Boat 'made in the G.D.R exclusively for Playmakers '. (VEB Plasticart).
Revell repackaged the same kit with the same heavy duty plastic parts.
I also managed to buy a ready built 1/72 Be-12 Mail.
The propellers were damaged and missing. The rear MAD boom is in need of attention  and there's no exhaust pipes for the turboprop engines.
There's no makers name on the model although the Be-12 did use the same fuselage,  twin fins, wings and cockpit canopy from the Be-6.
Looks to me as the modeller did the same and used wood carved for the turboprop engines,  MAD boom and nose. With a clever use of a mask to simulate the windows.
The decals are starting to lift. The main landing gear is in good order but I'll need to find a rear wheel.

Yup I was surprised by how small they were when we were allowed to clamber over one at a museum in the States one year. I'd like to see one posed next to a Staghound or a Boarhound (was that the other large armoured car made for us Brits ?)

Very interested in your views on the St Chamond Mr Chaos as I am thinking about getting that kit

Small, yes.  But I think the Academy artist has painted the commander a bit too large.

Those St Chamonds look like a good basis for some sort of Sci Fi tank to me.

Visited a new (to me) model shop on Friday.  Upon asking how long they'd been open I was told 5 years.
Showcase Models in Melbourne CBD.  Prices are higher than the place I usually go (Metro Hobbies) but they have a much better range of the esoteric, the odd and the short run kits.  In other words the stuff we like.
I've never actually seen A Model kits on the shelf in a shop before.  I was tempted by a Bf 109 zwilling but reminded myself of my previous experiences with their products.

I left with a Special Hobby Yak 23 and an ICM Mercedes G4 staff car.  Both 1/72.

The I popped into Metro to check their prices and while doing so picked up a Fly Avrocar Racer X (1/72).

It's nice to find a model shop let alone one that deals in the more "esoteric". Interested to see what you do with the Flora - other low fat spreads are available  ;D
