my Gnick starter, full of Gnolls and wargames rules arrived.  a large pile of shiney lead, and multi part plastic,   and yesterday saw the acquisition of 3 more elder dreadnoughts ( £12 the 3, cheaper than when they were released in the 80s)  s squad of WW2 ish orcs, ( they are wonderfully characterful, and the good guys  )  and some Victoriana home service uniform troops, some armed firemen ( in crested helmet)  and some armed post men.

Two Hobbycraft 1/72 CF-100's ( a Mk.IV and a Mk.V) are winging their way to me from Merry Old England, via the ATF forum.

Picked up a package from the post office where it has languished since Saturday

1 x 1/72 NAZA Model Art Su-30MKM Exterior conversion set.

This contains replacement vertical tail surfaces, LEX parts for the Canards, deflected exhausts for the engines and several lumps and bumps for the exterior. The Resin looks rather brittle to me though so I will be taking care when using the set. Recommended for the Trumpeter Su-30MKK kit.

An 1:72 AZ Model Spitfire F.22, and because the seller sent me the wrong kit I now also have a free Mastercraft F-84G instead of an F-16... the kit was too cheap for any postage, so I can keep the Thunderstreak and get the missing F-16 on top for free (also from Mastercraft).

No plan for the F-84G yet, but I have a feeling that it could turn into a Luft 46 creation...

The Wooksta!

I'm assuming that the AZ 22 is the Rhodesian/Egyptian/Syrian boxing?

Yesterday was another interesting trawl round the north east on the Home Bargains Airfix Treasure Hunt.  First stop, Mackemland.  3 Hurricanes and a pair of F51s.  Off to Jarrow - Spitfires.  Lots of them - 19s and 22s.

Round the Metro system again, with a stop at Whitley Bay (nowt) then North Shields - one each of the Vampire T11, Mustang and Typhoon.  Picked up by me mate who's back from London and off to Washington Galleries.  What a dump that place is - a target marker bomb could only improve it.  Nowt there but Vampires, Hawks and Higgins boats.  Waste of time, petrol and shoe leather.

However, me mate did bring back some goodies from London - two PRXIXs and six Vampire T11s.  He also stopped off at a Home Bargains enroute and cleared their stock of Spitfire PR19s and F22s.

This morning - up bright and early and off to Peterlee.  Nabbed five Hurricanes, 3 of which are hostage swaps.  Up the road to Seaham for yet more Spitfire PR19s and F22s.

And today's not yet finished...

Yup, correct. No concrete plan yet, and as a bonus the kit comes with alternative rudders and propellers for the naval version(s).

I'm feeling a little deprived on this Home Bargains front !! Nearest store to me is Orpington, 10 miles as the crow flies but about an hour on the train given the way the network in London is constructed. However that would now be nearer 90 mins as the current Southern situation means that under their temporary timetable they have cancelled the Crystal Palace to Beckenham Jct link which gets you onto the Kent line and whence to Bromley and then Orpington. The next ones are situated in the darker reaches of North, East and West London.

Still am I bothered ? Not really

Chris, if there's owt you're looking for, I'm sure one of more of us could acquire them for you.

Found myself in Stevenage, which is lucky(?) enough to have 2 Home Bargins oulets - picked up the PRXIX from one, leaving one on the shelf and nothing else, the other shop only had 2 Vampires, a Spitvire VB and about a dozen Cromwell tanks. Passing Letchworth on the way home, with nothing better to do on a wet Tuesday afternoon, I returned to the HB store there, but the stock was the same as before, except now only 1 kit wide on the shelf.

Back from a trawl around three more Home Bargains stores - Blaydon, Gateshead and Wallsend.  Very little to report, other than Blaydon had Bf 109Es.

One more thing - there's no dedicated space on the shelves for them.  Sometimes they're in the sweets, toys, puzzles or stationary. And always check the Star Buys section.  Sunderland and the Galleries have hidden them there.

Cheers for that: I'm checking the Stockport & Edgeley ones again tomorrow.

All the ones I've seen have had them in the toy section, stacked deep on the very highest shelf and mixed up, so you have to use some other long box to extract the ones from the back. A couple of branches have had them in two separate places amongst the toys though.

Tram to Beckenham Junction and then a train to Orpington from there?

Received today from BNA Model World one huge box containing an only slightly smaller box within which was a Zvezda Petlyakov Pe-8.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

A pair of Airfix Tomahawk gift sets and another two of the Finnish Gladiators from Blaydon Home Bargains.

Brockwell also had a load of Vampires hidden in the Star Buys today.

If anyone spots either the Spitfire mk I/II or Mk IXcs in Home Bargains, you have a ready buyer here for cash monies.
