You guys are making out like bandits ! How cheap are the kits ? I had the same thing happen here years ago, a discount chain ( Giant Tiger ) was selling off Hobbycrap kits for 4.99, Arrow, Clunk, Bugsmasher, F-86...I went there almost daily

The kits are £2.99 Capn BTW

Not quite a stash addition, but I HAVE FINALLY BOUGHT A NEW SUMMER HAT!  The old straw one was rapidly dismantling itself and no longer fit for use in polite society.  You will all appreciate that I'm NOT setting up in competition with our distinguished engineer hat wearer, and  I have no doubt that Kit's summer headgear is much more sartorially appropriate than my new blue floppy cotton hat.  However, since the Rheged pate is much less hairy than of yore, protection from the summer sun (when we get any) is most important.

The RRP on some of these has been up to £9.00 so they're pretty good.

Well I had an early morning dental appointment today (joy...) so having got my donkey out of the house, I decided to have a marathon HB sweep, checking three stores that I'd already visited and four neww ones. I even took my life in my hands and visitied the one in Salford. Not saying Salford's dodgy or anything, but the parking was free because the pay-and-display meters had been nicked last night.....

Anyway, nothing dramatic to report. Some of the stores have started putting the kits in the Crafts section, next to the Stationery, which is worth remembering. Some of the 'new' ones still had Typhoons, so I got 5 Typhoons, 3 Hurricanes, 3 Mustangs and two Tomahawks, bringing my totals to:

Tomahawk Starter Set: 3
Dauntless: 4
Fw190 A8/F8: 5
Gladiator: 3
Hurricane: 10
LCVP: 4
Bf 109E-7/trop: 3
Mustang: 6
Red Arrows Hawk: 4
Spitfire Mk.22: 9
Spitfire Mk.9: 3
Spitfire Mk.5: 3
Spitfire PR.19: 11
Typhoon: 6
Vampire T.11: 6

Lots of Spit Mk.22s, PR.19s and Mk.Vs, but no IXs or I/IIs, I'm afraid. Also, I've got enough Typhoons now so I don't need any more Lee...*

*just kidding  ;)

I think HB are going to end up with an awful lot of European Fountains, LCVPs and sailing ships stuck firmly where they'll never get UV damaged......

Hat Wearers of the World unite.  ;D

The hat in my avatar is what everyone in the family calls my 'Indiana Jones Hat', and at work they called me 'Indiana Spackman' on more than one occasion, but it's only for colder weather. In the summer I wear a straw hat that's called 'The Umpire's Hat' amongst the family, for obvious reasons. Like yours it's getting a bit worn now and I may have to replace it before much longer.

;D It has a self-ejector system that removes it when I get in my car or go through the front door at home. Most other occasions it remains arc-welded to my head............  ;)

You guys with the Home Bargains kits are killing me. That price equates to NZ$5.53...the normal NZ retail price being NZ$14.99.

I hate you all. :banghead:

Price to send approx 6 kits to NZ by Royal Mail Int'l Economy (no tracking) is £13.25. That raises the price per kit to £5.20. Worth doing?

Note that I havn't done detail pack size/weight measurements. If you gave me a list of what you wanted I could work it out precisely.

So Red Arrows Hawk is the only modern-ish jet they have on sale? Good, I won't have to be jealous then. ;D (If they had even other Hawk boxings, well, then I could be a bit...)

Yes, they're all series 1 or 2, and few modern jets are that small. The only other one is the Vampire T.11.
