Just arrived after a 2 month wait, and direct form Model collect, 1/72nd scale SMERCH multiple rocket launcher. Very nice detailed kit with no flash or obvious problems. Looking forward to adding this to my Cartel armour, as it is a formidable piece of kit.

The final trawl of Home Bargains on a lovely sunny morning for a drive.

Hit the Boro and came away with a trio of Hurricanes for me mate Vince.  Over the water to beard Hangus the Monkey in his lair and came away with several PRXIXs and a few F22s.  We passed Seaham on the way back, so that got hit again, yielding a PRXIX and a F22.

Then the motherlode.  The Galleries.  Twice before, it's been a waste of time.  Not today.  Gladiators of both silver and Finnish varieties were on the shelf.  How many mkIXcs?  Four, so nabbed them plus another Gladiator for Vince.  Asked one of the staff if they had any more in.  Yep, they had four more.  Kits?  No. 4 CASES from Hornby.  Spitfires?  Yes.  MkIXs?  Definitely, plus 109Es and more Gladiators.  Feeling somewhat smug and very overloaded, I headed for the checkout.  Very happy with what I'd acquired and even more satisfied with knowing that there's no more trawling round the North East.

Modellers in the North East can now go about their treasure hunt knowing that I've retired.  I have more than enough Airfix Spitfires to keep me and The Plan busy for several years...

Mind, I'd still like a few of the fountains.  I've some SF dioramas in mind.  I just need some Airfix Astronauts and some Federated Security - I already have some Daleks.

Yeh, I reckon the sales spike in the NE of England has caused the entire stock to be sent there.
I tried the Irvine branch again, yesterday, not a thing, not even a fountain.
Sigh!

Had what I think will be the final raid on Edgeley and Stockport branches this morning. Stockport only had mixed remnants, but Edgeley had restocked big time, including the first Spit Mk.I/IIs I've seen in this area (never seen a Finnish Gladiator in this area either: just the silver/Irish one).

Totals now stand at:

Spitfire Mk.22: 9
Spitfire Mk.IXc: 7
Spitfire Mk.Vb: 6
Spitfire Mk.I/IIa: 6
Spitfire PR.19: 11

Tomahawk Starter Set: 3
Dauntless: 4
Fw190 A8/F8: 5
Gladiator: 6
Hurricane: 10
LCVP: 4
Bf 109E-7/trop: 3
Mustang: 6
Red Arrows Hawk: 4
Typhoon: 6
Vampire T.11: 6

Any/all available for swaps/trades with any poor souls who don't live near a Home Bargains. ;D

The previous deal for Typhoons - can we make it a trade for Spitfire mk I/IIas? Haven't seen them yet in this area - and I've been a fair way south too - and rather than pay £9 for the mk Va when it comes out for the priviledge of a new decal sheet, I'd rather buy three of the older kit.

Are you sure you didn't get down to Essex...?  :-\

My local Home Bargains only had lots of Cromwell IV tanks, a Mustang, a pair of LCVP and some Vampires. No Spitfires to be seen!

I walked away with one Vampire kit.

chrisonord

Spitfire wise, my local home bargains had a load of Mk 22's in, none of the other marks though.

I've been no further south than Boro.  There was talk of Redcar, but that may be shelved.

Tonight, got another two Airfix Spitfires from HB, via one of our club members.

I do build the occasional WWII stuff. I recently built the Airfix Dauntless. Helps to do a change of subject every now and again.

That Airfix fountain has been giving me ideas, so much so, I've just bought a set of these:

Okay, so just to be clear, you want to trade 6 Typhoons for 6 Spitfire Mk.I/IIs, yes?

It's possible that I might be able to get more Mk.I/IIs: they're new into this area and more stores might get them.
