So, finally voted, everything worked fine (except for some tank pics?).
Thanks a lot for setting all this up - there was a BIG bunch of entries to filter through, you have my respect for this editorial task.
Now looking forward to the Big Show!

Many thanks indeed for putting this all together mate  That was very, very difficult. Great collection of models

Voted &, as usual, struck by how difficult the voting is around here, when one has so few votes to enter.

I know this is going to sound arrogant (because even the thought feels wrong) but I'm rather disappointed that my RAM Vietnam Fire Support Boat, Riverine, didn't make the cut for the kitbashes vote.

Although, I suppose, it's more of a "scratch-bash" (1/2 scratch-build, 1/2 kitbash) &, as such, is neither fish nor fowl. :-\

Quite the marathon...some votes took awhile. Thanks for this.

The Academy will have to hold their hands up to that one I`m afraid. Once we realised that their was only one ship, helicopter and Dio nomination, admittedly we didn`t look at other areas because you automatically won so parked you off to one side.

It`s something I`ll remember for next year. Sorry about that.

Very hard to choose but the deed is done.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Oh, bugger!

Didn't even think about that! Now I feel really bad! :banghead:

Don`t be. It`s not your fault you had the only ship nominated and it`s a great looking model.

The Academy felt it just couldn`t put a helicopter, ship or dio into some sort of miscellaneous poll for members to vote on as they are so different.

Hopefully next year some more ships, copters and dio`s will be nominated.

Agreed  I for one am not fond of the miscellaneous category

I sometimes wish I had enough ego to self-promote. I was looking back on what I built last year and the two I was most proud of were the Jägermeister and Gulf Oil racers. Pretty things...got about £160 for them off Ebay, now I almost wish I'd kept them. Going to try for some other racer-ideas if I can get my mojo going again...completely dead in the water right now ;D.

I know how you feel. I have three nominations this year but they are not my best work on here this year not by a long chalk. Should we be allowed to nominate one of our own, maybe a Narcissus category? Would be nice to know which of Dizzy's he thought was best.

Anyway this is not a criticism of the good work done by the Whiffie committee, they can only work with what is in the 'Sway' thread.

Chris (NARSES2) is constantly reminding us to post models we like in the Nominations thread, and yet I STILL forget to do it!  :banghead: :banghead:

Not sure how I can sort that issue out.

I have had to swallow my pride and self-nominate before.  Some great builds get overlooked/lost in the shuffle especially during a group build, and not that many people nominate.  It is a slippery slope as someone's pride and joy could be a terrible blob of plastic to eveyone else, but if you honestly see your build being up to the standards or originality and/or quality, go ahead and self-nominate.  It helps build up some categories.  And no this does not mean every build should be nominated.  We need to respect the quality of the WHIFFIES- not all are worthy to be (self) nominated.

I do find it a pain to nominate someone else as if I think I am to do it correctly I am supposed to save their picture at an offsite photo hosting site (I use photo-bucket) and then repost their picture (as to not bust the WHIF server) a link to their build, and recommend a category.  Happy to be corrected if it is ok to just post their picture directly.

I also vote a silly category would be nice.  The recent barn door flyer, the Euro Trash truck, the Nemo painted submarine etc. were all fantastic builds, but perhaps not best in post WWII jet, vehicle or ship categories?

Follow your impulse - that's what I do. When I see something new and "feel something", I immediately post it.
Considering nominations: I agree that some great pieces got lost in the GBs and did not make it from there to the Whiffies list. That should be kept in mind this year.
Self-nomination should only be a last resort, though, maybe reserve it for the more exotic non-aircraft categories?

Anyway, follow your urges, and nominate - everyone! This is not an exclusive duty - after all, the Whiffies are true board awards and basically very democratic.

I always post their pic directly. I hit the 'quote' button on their thread and found the URL of the pic I wanted to show, highlighted it and 'copied', then pasted it directly into the nomination post.

If that's wrong no-one's ever complained about me doing it, and it'd be silly anyway.
