It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

Thanks Rheged.
If you put the city centre heliport on top of a skyscraper then noise becomes less of an issue.

Now, if I wanted to build a diorama where could I get a 1/72 scale Army Nursing Corp?

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Ho Hum, situation normal sadly, the Beeb giving only half the story, the wrong half.

When the 'dyne was cancelled Fairey had pretty well sorted the noise problems. The thing that REALLY cancelled it was Government meddling, as usual, who'd insisted that Fairey merge with the more powerful Westlands, who really didn't want any upstart little company's product being better than their big Westminster helicopter.

Which was later cancelled..............

If the Rotodyne had been successful and you lived next to the heliport you could tell all your friends you had Faireys at the bottom of the garden.

I'll get me coat...

hmm, so did the station radio bay back onto your family's married quarters then kit?  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Nothing backed onto our married quarters except the airfield itself. Great when they were flying Canberras, Swifts, Javelins, Pioneers etc, but LOUD when it was the Rotodyne!

How did they reduce the decible level? I recal the rotor tip jets were the main source of excessive (I would have loved it) noise.  Less oomph/fuel to the tip nozzles? But that would seem to reduce lifting ablity. Something more clever?

What? Can you speak up please?  ;D

They tried zillions of different nozzle designs for the tip jet. and many of them are shown in THE Rotodyne book, which, needless to say, I  don't have immediately to hand, but it's well worth getting hold of.
