I really enjoyed looking over the build pics in this thread ! Cheers for that. Now I really want to do my own version

I'm pondering the same, however I would do something different with the rear of the aircraft and probably use different propellers.

Time to see if I can add another to my thread. Storm Katie has done sufficient damage in Sussex, enough to bring a tree down near where I work and that has cut power and internet so rather than working today I have a day to myself. SWMBO has gone shopping so out in the garden to prop up the two fallen fence panels on my neighbours side and time to give a smug smirk that all the new panelling I put up last year on two sides remains in tact.

So what to do. At first I thought what can I do in a week but seeing there's an extension maybe I have a little more time - or shall I attempt one in a day ? Either way - Keep it simple. So here is my subject....

Of course I've got to tweak it in some way    ;D

Ok Mid-day so a stop for some lunch (wife returned pedicure and retail therapy done). So this morning I've slapped on some paint (sorry a bit blurred)

and while that dried I decided on the tweak for Mig 17D (Hasegawa kit) read Lim-6Bis (Polish licence built Mig 17). As far as I can see the only difference being the non-radar nose and the addition of a parachute housing on the tail.

Paint dry and seat added. I used a spare white metal seat (for weight) and had to cut the cockpit tub to get it to flex enough to take the slightly broader seat. Now fixed to fuselage side.

Fuselage then glued together. A rough test and I find the new nose to be slightly smaller than the fuselage  :banghead:

Lunch first tackle that problem afterwards.

Wings on and parachute housing added. Hopefully this will be the only puttying I'll need.

Sanded and looking good.  Tailplanes and undercarriage on.

and one undercarriage leg has gone "soft" - the other two fixed in place without problem. So a long wait for thar to go off.

Just coming up to 9pm and I'll not get it done tonight.

Main reason is the new nose is too small !

Sizing up before hand it looked good but obviously it shrunk.....

or the fuselage has been pigging out on chocolate eggs !

Danish Socialist Air Force 1958 - Lim-6Bis (Polish licence built MiG-17 D)

Finished build photographs (the model is actually a lot greener , the flash gives it a bit of a suntan browning !)

I like that. The tail fin "flash" is a neat idea

The 68is looks great.  Older Hasegawa kits can be a PiTA but it looks like this one didn't put up too much of a struggle.

Thank you Zenrat.

I was worried that you may have been put out by my choice of subject...

Not at all.  I've never been a believer in having exclusivity in group/community builds.

Does that ever look good ! I love it in that colour and markings combo. I like the weapons fit as well.

Last one started this alongside the MiG but I hate Matchbox kits so decided after half an hour to scrap it. Then came the extension and I though why the hell not.

Sorry no build pictures because I never thought I'd have the effort to finish it.

Yakolev Yak-22 Nato Code name 'FISHPASTE'

While Britain and Denmark took advantage of the Eastern Bloc's generosity in supplying aircraft it was not all one way. Britain were keen to pass to Yakolev the Meteor NF.11 airframes for further development.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I always preferred meatpaste... ;D

This fooled me.  I thought, WOW! he's done a really good job on that A Model Yak!
Then I looked at it properly.  Still a really good job.
Well done.

The Fishpaste does look good. If it had the multi framed canopy it would look even more like a Soviet two seater I.M.H.O.
