Heavens, you're putting resin Victor intakes on a Victor:o                                      ;D

I do apologise whole-heartedly.  It's my guilty sin to occasionally dip into real world modeling.....

You heartless fiend.  How could you...

Not a huge amount done here. Got some primer on it to see what needed sorting, and had a look at missile mounts.  I think I'm going to stick with the Lynx's ones, rather than scratch build.  Although, as with all things on a whif, this could change....

Captain Canada

Yes, those look good if you were to ask me ! I love the way the nose says 'Lynx'. This is going to look so right.

Thankyou.

I was worried that I might not be able to fit the missiles, as the proprotor (honestly!) is so big that any missile fired from anywhere but directly underneath or on top of the fuselage would hit it.  I had thought about a retracting missile rack, ala Airwolf, but I felt that this wouldn't show them off.  Then I thought of over fuselage launchers.

Then I decided it might be a good idea to actually see how the Sea Skua launches.  Of course, like most large missiles, it drops first then ignites.  In the case of the Sea Skua, it drops a good 20-30 ft, giving it loads of time to clear the props....

Captain Canada

Good call. And Sea Skuas will just look so right on this build

They're actually 'fired' downwards.

The pylons have cartridges inside them that fire the missile clear of the airframe as the airflow tends to 'stick' them in place.

I used to install and maintain the test systems that tested the missile's ability to withstand that shock loading at 90 deg. to their normal loading, so I know these things.  ;) ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Thanks for that. I was wondering.  Having watched a video on youtube of a Malayan Lynx doing a firing, it looked like it just dropped, so was going to build some ejector guns, but if it does that anyway, saves me the job.

I used to analyse radar systems in the RAF for EW countermeasures, and I did the Seaspray radar, Sea Wolf and Sea Dart missiles.  Didn't do Sea Skua, or I would have known that too....

You know there is such a wealth of knowledge and experience on here that if we all ever got locked in a shed by some bad guys that provided we could agree on a plan anything McGuyver or the A Team could make would pale into insignificance.

Excellent stuff. You learn somat new everyday ! I was just watching a video the other day of a bunch of ordnance drops gone wrong, and a lot of them do 'stick' in place, that's for sure !

Yea, once we'd sorted out if it was tea or coffee  ;D

zenrat

Oh that's easy.  Coffee before lunch.  Tea with lunch and then until beer o'clock.  Coffee after dinner if driving (port or desert wine if not).

Nope, 'fraid not. Tea if home or at someone's place whom you can trust. Coffee when away from home or anywhere in the USA. I was surprised by how good the tea was in Aus

Beer is in a pub after the sun is over the yardarm. Of course somewhere in the Empire on which the sun never sets it always is

This one is going quite slowly, because of other commitments, but it will get done!!

Just added a few greebles

That looks so good!

Put the props together last night.  They need a fair bit of filling.....

The problem arose when I test fitted one to the engine.....

I did some research, and the prop itself is the right size, so I can only assume the wing is too short.  At least the engines will be vertical, so this problem won't show up so much, but really, Italeri?
