I'm reading my newly acquired copy of Admiral Cunningham's autobiography. He describes reading  intercepted Afrika Corps reports concerning  hovering British helicopters undertaking "precision bombing".   His comment "That would be our Swordfish flying upwind".

Hehehe, indeed so.

Ted told me of a 'reverse loop' they flew at Yeovilton once in a very strong wind. The Captain throttled back until the Stringbag was flying slower than the wind speed and so went backwards along the runway. Then he put the nose down and speeded up a tad until it was back to the original ground  position, then climbed back to where it was at first.

Their Sea Lordships wouldn't let them do it during proper displays though, they figured it would detract from the Sea Harriers doing pretty much the same thing, only louder  ;D

And more expensively.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Yup, Dad said that a couple of times whilst serving on an auxiliary carrier the crew had to rush out a grab a hovering Swordfish that was trying to land in the headwind  ;D Plus as told before the TAG once reported being over taken by a seagull
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Moving the scheme discussion aside for a second, the build is going really well and quite quickly.

Don`t really remember it being this easy the last time I made this in 1/72...?

So from this angle it`s looking fine.

But when you flip it over.....,

....... there are more gaps in this than the Titanic.

Calling Mr Filler, is Mr Filler in the building.........??

The TSR2 was engineered before 'The Great Airfix Improvement Programme' sadly.

Managed to knuckle down and crack on with this tonight. No decals yet, all hand painted.

Those rectangular holes that you filled in the underside of the main undercarriage bay doors should be there.  I think they are something to do with the boundary layer air from around the air intakes but I'm not 100% sure on that so please don't quote me on that.

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

IIRC they're dump ducts from the intakes. Airfix model the ducts inside the fuselage but don't tell you what they are.

That is correct and they are still there. I only filled in the gaps on the front u/c doors and a bit of bombay.

It looked from the picture as if they had been filled in which was why I brought the subject up.

Taken late last night, this penultimate photo shows the scheme applied in the guise of a 2 Sqn TSR.2 in a mid/late 70`s wrap around camo.

Don`t think I`ve ever seen a what if 2 Sqn example, but it seems a logical choice to me considering the role 2 Sqn plays.

A few bits and bobs to finish but the final shots should be done later this week.

Super job there, that shot from the rear 3/4 really looks the business.
