When they cancelled the TSR.2, Hawker-Siddely aviation sold the RAF their P.1125 strike fighter.  Equipped with twin Avon engines and able to carry conventional and nuclear bombs, as well as self-defence Sidewinders, the P.1125 was put hurriedly into service to make up the short-fall created by the cancellation of the TSR.2.

The model is a combination of a 1/72 Mirage IV fuselage with 1/48 Hunter wings and tail.

That's a great build,  reminds me of the Tu-28/Tu-128.
Got the Amodel 1/72 in the stash.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I DO like that!

Only the fin really gives away the Mirage IV origin, somehow the swept wings divert you from recognising the fuselage shape, nice one. Did you extend the nose too?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The fin is a give away I admit,   No, I didn't extend the nose.  I changed it with a fair bit of PSR work.

So, did HS borrow panel fabrication techniques from British Leyland or Alfa Romeo for the job? And how did they get the rust to appear so uniformly?

They subcontracted the panel work to British Leyland and hired a special team of rusters to scrub the aircraft down to make it uniform in colour.

No, this aircraft has just returned from the Gulf War, wearing it's only marking, a pirate flag.  Strangely, this was all they wore during that campaign.  It was a shock when they were forced due to lack of fuel to land in Italy on the way home and they were discovered to be naked...  ;D

Just the drop tanks - from the Mirage IV and two Sidewinders and some extra hard point pylons.   I also dropped the flaps.
