Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Undercarriage built up.  I used the main legs as is, but just with larger single wheels.  The nose leg was altered, by fitting an "extending" section.  This being an F-111 nose leg and wheels.

A selection of weaponry has been removed from the armoury.

By the late 60's the Royal navy knew that their big carriers were due for scrapping and that plans for the proposed CVA 01 carrier were already being shelved.  In a desperate attempt to hold on to naval air power, the Admiralty put forward a plan to buy 2 ex-US Navy Kittyhawk class supercarriers and refit them with British equipment (mostly salvaged from the outgoing carriers, Ark Royal and Eagle)
Because of the cancellation of TSR2, the treasury, in a strange turn of events, agreed that air power at sea was definitely needed.  They approved the acquisition of at first 1, then later a second US carrier.  To supplement them, 2 Centaur class carriers were to be refitted to act as tactical carriers to aid in smaller conflicts.
As these weren't big enough to carry the larger American types being used on the supercarriers, a smaller multi-purpose aircraft was needed.
BAC offered a version of the new Jaguar, fitted with the variable geometry wing, then being designed for the MRCA, to aid with slower and shorter take offs and landings.
Renamed the Cheetah, the FRS.1 entered service aboard the HMS Hermes in 1978, seeing service during the Falklands conflict in 1982.

Very nice. The hardpoints under the Tornado wings match well - funny to see how your and my build differ in so many details. I'll integrate the FRS.1 nomination and maybe some of your background details into mine for the RAF, if that's O.K.?

Dizzyfugu

Thank you. Just nominated your build for teh Whiffies.  ;D

Devilfish

Thank you. It only started as a quick build, to fill in time, lol

Dizzyfugu

It's the idea that counts, IMHO, and I love the basic concept of your build with the Tornado parts.
