As it says, this is where to have your general discussion about the GB

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Before it all kicks off i'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you for doing all the organising of the GBs

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

And I'll third it - cheers Chris!

Thank you for setting this (and other GBs) up, too.

Currently filing through the project/idea list as well as the kit pile as well as spares and decals box(es). Currently there are three aircraft candidates for this GB.

I think my RN Cougar is just a little too much part-started for the rules, but no matter, I have 'one or two' other things...

There are plenty of straight-forward things I could do, but I always seem to do better in one-week builds when I try something stupidly ambitious. Hmmmm

I have the perfect kit for a 1 week build (low parts count, pretty much a snapper, an odd subject) but i'm struggling with how to whiff it.

I find the limiting factor in one-week builds is not so much the building as the painting. Glue dries relatively fast and you can still handle the model, so you can put more effort into it and get a quicker result. A painting/drying cycle, on the other hand, takes as long as it takes and you can do sod all until it's handleable again. If it takes 12 hours for a coat to dry, then that's two colours per day, max.

Acrylics mean quicker drying times.  I was painting the underside of a Vampire yesterday and the first part was dry before I finished the last.
Add to that use of a dehydrator if they are stubborn and I should be OK with paint.
For me the Critical Path is PSR.  Even minor seam filling will gobble up a couple of days (yes, I know I can use CA glue & talc but i've tried it and can't get on with it - & a one week GB isn't the time to learn).

As for how to whiff it, inspiration struck while driving to the pizza shop to pick up our tea.

I've just been looking thoughtfully at a Pegasus Apollo 27 and Warren Ellis's Ministry of Space graphic novel, but I think the MoS colour schemes are too elaborate.

Well I've settled on yet another Airfix new tool Hurricane. I still have 5 left in the stash and plenty of scheme I want to do so this will be one of them. Nice straightforward build that I'll enjoy and given my current feelings re the Beaufighter (see my Blog) will probably do me good.

Whew, I'm heading in the road that Friday for my daughters college graduation, so would be a 3-4 day build for me....I think I can....gotta a few ideas that require less surgery and paint...

Damn! I was thinking of doing a DH Heron as a Katangan Air Force gunship similar to the Dove(s) they used for real, but I've just found out that they actually did have at least one Heron. No indication that it was used as a gunship or what it's eventual fate was though. Hmmmm....

Could always do it as a fictional African country with a similar history I suppose. Buranda from Yes Minister is always an option...
