I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

It's a fight... I know why I "just" submit this single build for the GB. At the moment I am not certain if things turn out well.

BTW, painting started Sunday afternoon - rather simple. I settled for Humbrol 111 (German Uniform Grey) as basic tone, since it is rather greenish and not close to any FS tone you frequently see on aircraft. In order to add some contrast I decided to paint (only) the wings' undersides in blue grey (Humbrol 115). FS 36076 is used on the radome and the fin's leading edge, Olive Drab will later be used for the shading process.

This will be finished tomorrow, just wait and see...  ;D  Great work on what seems like a very poor kit.

Hmm, not finished today, but progress is good, actually better than expected. Even though painting has been a fight, too. Humbrol's 111 is one of those re-released enamels with a dubious structure and lack of opacity. Stir it up as you might, I could not make the stuff workable. Took at least three coats of paint in order to get rid of any thin/translucent spots, and the stuff dried up glossy/spotty.  :-\

Applied a black in wash yesterday, and I hope that things become better/less obvious when I start panel shading.

Looks a bit odd in this uniform, greenish-grey livery? I am curious how the markings change this murky appearance - and, on the other side, it is a good basis which lets small, colored highlights stand out.

Stay tuned...  :tornado:

I read that Humbrol were having production control problems with their paints a year or so ago, so they bought production back to the UK and the quality is far, far better. Unfortunately I don't think you can tell where the paint was made and there's still a lot of the poor stuff out there.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Dizzyfugu

That would explain some things. The RLM enamels I bought last year are also rather dubious and not really user-friendly, and I recently opened a tin of flat black that is rather a pudding than paint... :(

As another shocker it seems that Testors is somehow retreating from the European market - the Modelmaster enamels are listed out everywhere! Dire times!!!  :-\

It's looking sexy, Dizz, though I have always been a fan of the 21's family.

Decals!

Main markings come from a Blue Rider Publishing aftermarket sheet for modern Lithuanian aircraft. This set also includes the small Air Force crests, which I put on the nose, as well as the typical, blue tactical codes.

The stencils come from the scrap box, the small Lithuanian flag stripes on the tail rudder were created from single decal stripes, a personal addition inspired by Lithuanian C-27J transporters. They add some more color to the otherwise murky Baltic MiG fighter.

The silver ring around the air intake as well as the stripes at the flaps and the rudder were created with simple decal stripes instead of paint.

Are they 'roundels', or 'squarels' or maybe 'crossels'?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

According to Wikipedia they are Roundels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithuanian_Air_Force, however I would think that they are some form of cross.

Thank you very much. at the moment, no (further) pics of the WiP kit. Did some soot stains around the jet pipe and other small retouches, and a coat of matt varnish is to be applied.
Then the ordnance will be mounted, and then the photo sessions can start.

The thing looks interesting, though. The simple livery emphasizes the Fishbed's clean lines, and the color is somewhat disturbing: somewhere between grey and olive drab, really unique and "different", IMHO.
