I  can see your mono-float option came from a Rufe, but where do the twin-floats come from please? They certainly suit the Defiant.

The struts make me think of the Airfix Arado 196.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Close... they're from the Encore (ex-Heller) Arado 196. I've never made the Heller kit but I'm sure the fit couldn't have been this poor as it is on the Encore. Also the Encore (made in Mexico) plastic has a nasty feel to it and you can shine a light through parts of it. Not thin plastic but not fully white seems to be opaque (in parts).

Anyway flapped on a coat of paint lastnight - all over Duck egg blue (as an undercoat and let it dry for a couple of hours looked good (pictures to follow). Next mask it up and overpaint it with Humbrol Dark Sea Grey (acrylic). Not sure if it was the paint, the DEB undercoat not fully dry or what but it seemed to go on thickly and didn't settle flat. Left it an hour and then filled in the rest of the pattern with a Revell green (sorry can't be specific on this). I tried the Humbrol Green to match the DSG but on opening found the paint solid. So a quick look on the interweb and a sort through my Revell paints and paint chosen,  slapped on and oh dear it's runny or more to the point it's smeary (is that a word).

Oh the trials and tribulations of 1 week builds - no time to strip and paint again. Looked ok this morning in daylight but last night looked like a dog's dinner !

Photo's to follow. Tasked with clearing out the loft tomorrow ready for a new boiler so no chance to do any modelling during the day. I lost the battle of the BBQ - Sunday is out (can I keep off the booze with her friends around ?) I'll need to if I need to finish Sunday. Oh and just to make it a hat-trick of grief, Car retailer found a problem with the 'new' car - needs a part from Kia and won't be ready until Wednesday.  :banghead:

A certain degree of alcoholic absorption could help in a problematic one-week build...At least you wouldn't be too worried about the paint...

Looks fine by me. Matt varnish and

Hmm I was going to gloss it,,, got me thinking now.

Taken five minutes out of clearing the loft (why is it so hot up there !). Good news is the wife's going out watching her mate's band. Bad news I've got to pick her up (probably worse for wear at 11pm) In the meantime I might get the blighter finished.

Nice idea, good call on the floats, the two aircraft have almost the same max TOW
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike
