Gak! Just played the first game using the wooden fleets and I forgot to take photos.
Ten thousand ancient and powerful carpentary curses (ie: Oh blast, I appear to have hit my thumb with the hammer).

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

No posts for the last few weeks because I've been working away at a single project.
Also I forgot.
Anyway, here's what I've mostly been building. The Rockasaurus. I got the idea from a google image search, but all the dimensions are based on a book on making rocking horses and a lot of eye-ball engineering.
Here we see the 12mm ply sheet on my dining table after marking out.

Here we see the same, but with the leg and arm templates sitting on it to give an idea of the finished product.

At school, saweration commences on the ancient and powerful band saw of ancient power.

All pieces roughly in place. The rockers and legs have been double-sided taped together so they will be identical. Should've used carpet tape, the tape I used was super tough to remove and I ended up mangling the insides of the legs. (no jokes about the rockasaurus's inside leg please)

Here stands the mighty body!

And the complete version.

He will be painted bright colours. Originally, I was only going to paint the body, but a screw went astray on the rockers, and punched out. I'm going to putty the damage and paint over it.

I've also been making some quick and easy muscle cars to donate to charity at christmas. I was having issues with making wheels, so I snapped and ordered 80 of them. I will post pics later today when I have installed some wheels - I must away to BUnnings and aquire new screws since the wheels I ordered use a different size to the ones I was trying to make.

Wonderfull. I know so many toddlers who would have or would just love that. Green with yellow or red spots ?

I assume you have to sacrifice to the "band saw of ancient power" ?  ;D

Not too much  I hope.  I've seen some horrible scars (and truncated digits) from bandsaw accidents.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Suggestion for the dino rocker, paint it like the Ford Explorers from Jurassic Park 1?
"Mind that bus." "What bus?" *SPLAT!*

I was thinking the Rockosaurus would be red with yellow rockers and big white anime style eyes. I might add some spots now you mention it...
Tomorrow I'm going to build a Toppollo set for my freind's daughter's birthday, so nothing spectacular. Although I have fitted wheels to a few of my wooden muscle cars as tests. Need to paint up some more bodies. I've also been sort of thinking about making a diesel-electic loco using the same wheels. It's be pretty big.

As dictate by tradition, I did not remember to take any photos of the deluxe Toppollo set before wrapping it.
Some time after the 29th, I shall get photos...

I was going through the cupboard of various props of or pertaining to doom in the studio in back of the media classroom where I do most of my teaching about being awesome (as opposed to teaching about how to spell awesome), and realised that most of the prop guns I have built over the years for effects shoots are either in a bad way or dead. Apparently, students don't quite get that the props are not as tough as the real thing...
So in the last week of term three, I started to make some wooden prop guns. Then there were holidays. Now it's week one of term four, and I'm back in the workshop and working further on my guns.
To wit:

The complete collection.

The SMG/energy gun. This is the biggest of the three, and the first one I designed. Most of it is 19mm pine with MDF details. Obviously a lot of the MDF still needs to be sanded and trimmed. I only glued it on today.
The stock is also very temporary at the moment. It needs glue and detailing.

The Pistol. The second gun I designed. Also mostly 19mm pine with MDF details. Also needs some more work, but it's closer to done than the SMG.

Other angle. I think the grip is a bit weedy. Might need to bulk it up somehow.

The holdout blaster. This was all done today and sort of on the fly. I was waiting for the MDF sections I'd glued on the other guns to dry, and wondering how to kill time. I found a chunky block of wood with rounded over edges in the scrap shelves in the machine room, and decided to make a gun from that.

The grip is 19mm pine cut on the scrollsaw. I used the saw table to cut a whole bunch of parallel cuts to make the notch that it fits into. It's very tight - almost does not need glue. Makes the whole thing pretty solid.

I'm going to try to get some more detailing on these during the week using plasticard, screws etc, and then get them fully cleaned up and sanded next week. Might try for some other props too. I was kinda tempted with the idea of making a sort of miniaturised FFVII Buster Sword...

Good heavens, you mean you have these guns in stock for the little darlings to hold and threaten other little darlings?

I'm amazed that the masses of the Mumsies haven't had you hung, drawn and quartered for such Neanderthal thinking....  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
