Well I have an old Airfix HMS Nelson which has been in the stash for a few years as it should have been built for a mate who's father served on her during WWII (in the end I built the Tamiya one for him). I then mused about what if there had been no Washington Treaty restrictions ? So musing on Nelson as a traditional design I cut the deck in two and that's as far as she got some 7/8 years ago ? So the plan is to have Nelson with 2 forward and one rear turret.
So, effectively an HMS Lion for the most part (although her secondaries were laid out more like a KGV)?

I have several books on pre-Washington Treaty capital ship designs. Lots of whiff fodder. Very interesting stuff. Lots of odd looking British battleship and battlecruiser studies and designs. The USN had some interesting ones as well including several that had four gun equipped turrets similar to the later KGV's. There was one USN design that had three four gun turrets all forward ala Nelson/Rodney. They also had some designs that had five guns in each turret.

It will be good to see a ship build on here, I don't feel we see that many really.

Have I mentioned that I have a soft spot for ships? :D
It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth.

Incidentally, isn't it rather inappropriate for a GB called 'In The Navy' to have a 'General Discussion Thread'? Surely it should be an 'Admiral Discussion Thread'?  ;)

All of this gets written down you know ?  ;D

for the OV10 Floats would the Float set that was on the old Airfix DHC 2 Beaver be about the right size?

zenrat

Too small.
DH2C Beaver gross take off weight 2300 Kg
OV10 Bronco max take off weight (yes, I know they are not the same thing but that's what wikipedia gives me) 6500 Kg

Twotter floats would be better - max take off weight of 5600Kg.

Yes:

Quote3)  You may build, draw or write as many entries as you like (good luck!).  The posting of in-progress pictures is encouraged as always.  Back stories - however long or short - win extra points.  Well OK they don't but they're always nice to see.

Very much so, as Weaver points out. Sorry I wasn't clearer.

Yes but it's only on the internet so it's not really real..... ;)

Nope, Hellcat too far gone down the build road so it will be something Sea Furious.

Can this hybrid design be accepted for this GB? Current status is what you see. In fact, bridge is not glued to deck because I have not decided yet about this issue.

Will die without understanding this world.

If I'm honest I'm pretty relaxed about it, I see GB's as a chance to get some projects finished at times and not as competitive. The only one I would be strict with is the 1 Week GB. After all I could pull a couple of early Czech Master kits out of the stash and they are almost single piece castings

So yes I'm happy for you to go ahead and finish it.

I still need to go to Bunnings to get some vital supplies for my main build.  Either plumbing or electrical, i'm not sure yet.  Depends of available sizes and fittings.
